NBA Rumors: Martin Being ‘Observed’
January 14, 2010Who is Mitch Talbot?
January 14, 2010With pitchers and catchers set to report to Goodyear, Arizona in 38 days, the Cleveland Indians have extended invites to seven minor league players. Chief among those invites is last season’s first round draft pick Alex White.
The right-handed pitcher will be along side former first-round selections Lonnie Chisenhall (3B) and Beau Mills (1B).
With the ink drying on his new $2.25 million deal, White’s invite is reportedly a part of his signing bonus. There were many talks leading into the signing season regarding whether or not White’s spot will be in the rotation or bullpen due to his power arm. As a starter with North Carolina, White was 8-4 with an ERA of 3.87.
Chisenhall – a player whom we were admittedly hard on upon his arrival – is coming off of a solid 2009 campaign where he hit a combined 22 home runs and 92 RBI between Class-A Kinston and Class-AA Akron. The infielder is right behind catcher Carlos Santana as a top prosepect within the Tribe organization and very well could replace Jhonny Peralta at the hot corner as soon as this fall.
Mills was rated as our third-best prospect last season but has had a history of slow starts. He finished 2009 with 14 home runs, 83 RBI and an average of .267 with the Aeros.
Others that received invites include pitchers Frank Herrmann and Yohan Pino, catcher Damaso Espino and infielder Niuman Romero. Hello, Niuman.

Any idea how open these practices are? I’m going to be in Arizona and my last full day there is the 22nd and I’d love to be able to see some of the players and maybe meet and get autographs if possible.
hurray! another season of ‘who are these guys?’
#2: with sites like WFNY, if you consider yourself a Tribe fan you should not be asking yourself that question. They may not (yet) be acomplished, but you should at least know who these guys are by now.
The only time I saw White pitch was in the College World Series last season and he loosked pretty solid. I think he went 9 innings against ASU, facing our 2nd round pick Jason Kipnis. Hope to maybe see him in Akron this year.
Crossing my fingers that the Tribe finally got a few 1st round picks right. Good drafts are the only way the Tribe will ever be competitive again
The Cleveland Prospects, I just can’t wait! Man I miss the 90s, for more reasons then just having a legitimate professional baseball team.
