Indians Attendance Issues??
May 2, 2009While We’re Waiting… Browns Draft, Cavaliers Schedule, Indians Lose, Jalen Rose
May 3, 2009The first Saturday of May is always one of the best sports spectacles of the calendar year and today looks to be no different. Starting off at 3:40 PM the Cleveland Indians take on the Detroit Tigers in game 2 of their three game series. The Indians managed to pull of a 6-5 victory last night thanks to the 4-5 performance from recent call-up David Dellucci.
Next up this evening is the 5:30 post time for the Kentucky Derby. The favorite I Want Revenge was scratched earlier this morning, leaving Dunkirk and Pioneer of the Nile as the two best remaining horses. These two both have 4-1 odds to win it, and Friesan Fire at 5-1 odds is the only other horse with odds better than 10-1. Who will be the next Big Brown or Barbaro in 2009?
The last big thing on the agenda for this evening is the epic finale of the fantastic series between the Chicago Bulls and Boston Celtics. The series has had just about everything thus far, and there are a ton of storylines heading into tonight’s 8:05 start time at the Garden. The Celtics should have the edge because of the home-court, but the Bulls are on a high after their triple-overtime victory in Chicago to force the game 7.
Enjoy one of the best sports days of the year over here at WFNY!

Indians and Tigers tied at 0 in the bottom of the fourth. Laffey and Zach Miner in an epic pitching duel thus far.
Dear NBC – thanks for pimping out the Giants/Cowboys game at the new stadium 4 months in advance.
Regards,
America
Jacob if you mean Laffey giving up a grand slam and walking a run home as a “epic’ then yes, it is “epic”…
… I take that back (this is why I use ellipsises)
How does Wedge decide who to use in the bullpen? They put in Sipp for two guys in the 7th and then go to Betancourt to finish that inning and start the 8th. So what’s the backup plan for Betancourt? Nothing. So after Betancourt throws a ball down the middle that even Felix Fermin could have hit out of the park, they leave him to make sure they can’t rally in the 9th. I guess its better than bringing out Jensen Lewis, but I’m not sure. The Fox guys said that Cleveland has given up 34 runs in the 8th inning so far this year (that was before the 3 today). That’s how you win titles. Please, please, please, please fire Eric Wedge. I’m begging now. I just can’t stand watching him kill this team anymore.
Calvin Burrell just inspired the next generation of illiterate American youth.
So a 50-to-1 horse that cost $9,500 won the Kentucky Derby. Hopefully you didn’t lose too much money there Denny..
Now my entire evening is reliant upon an entertaining Celtics/Bulls game. Otherwise all we had was a downer from the Tribe and a ridiculous “dark horse” win the Kentucky Derby.
That horse wasn’t all that dark – more of a chestnut color.
So pumped for this game.
Chicago up 7-2 early on, how nice would it be for them to take away the Garden crowd early?
heck of a block by rose, the bulls looked good early but now their offense is really stangant.
In Cavs news, Ferry did not win Exec of the Year. Went to Denver’s GM. Not sure if I can argue with that too much.
anyone think that horse trainer guy on crutches was a little salty in his post race interview?
I want to see some Cavs basketball. I miss those guys.
The bulls need to go back to pounding inside – 3 fouls on both Perk and Scalabrine. No momentum right now, need to finish the quarter well.
Bulls within 7, good slow methodical comeback. Hope they can put something together and at least push Boston into another OT.
Can you tell me what those technicals were on Rondo and House?
Well, good to see KG just walk to the locker room after the game finished without shaking hands. What a d-bag.
@ cody – Rondo’s was for punching the ball – even though he just hit it to the ref. Reminded me of the stink the PGA had a few years ago when Tiger tapped in with the front of his putter. Semantics. House got his for taunting the Bulls’ bench. Rivers wanted one on the Bulls’ bench for yelling back, but if they got one, the C’s should have gotten one prior for yelling in Hinrich’s (huge) ears when he shot a 3 from the corner.
Weak calls, much like the T on Perkins and Miller – at least the C’s have a lot of T’s, that’ll help if we see them in the ECF.
I’m happy a horse won the Derby that was brought there in a trailer hitched to a pick-up truck.
I’m happy the Bulls and Celtics went 7, and the Celtics got beat around a little bit. (Not happy that the Celtics think they’re unbeatable.)
I’m happy that the Cavs play in 2 days. It feels like an entire off-season since they closed out the Pistons.
I’m happy the Indians only have 138 more games left.
That series seals Boston’s fate in my eyes. If Chicago took them to 7 games I wonder what Orlando will do to them especially with Superman err I mean Howard destroying guys in the middle. Same goes for the Cavs with their ridiculous home record and Lebron and Mo. As far as Garnett goes, he never won anything until he landed on a stacked team in Boston. He had talent too anyone remember Marbury and then Sam Cassell and Sprewell in ’04? Same goes for Pierce and Allen.
