Carl Pavano’s Debut: Great Start, Eh?
April 9, 2009While We’re Waiting… The Cavs’ Turning Point, Jawad Williams Returns, and Mark Titus’ Announcement
April 10, 2009If you’re disgusted by the Indians’ opening series, (and aren’t we all) take heart that the Clippers begin their season tonight against in Louisville. If you didn’t see TD’s excellent team preview, do yourself a favor and check it out.
In addition, the Dispatch has a few nice pieces to check out. Columbus first baseman Jordan Brown said this about the team-
“(The Indians) expect to see a lot from pretty much the whole lineup and the whole pitching staff. They have expectations for every single person, which is unlike anything I’ve ever heard of for a minor-league team.”
And if the team performs as expected, they may be walking around Cleveland sooner than they think. Tonight, left hander David Huff takes the mound against Homer Bailey. Ohio baseball fans should recognize that name. Bailey has made 17 starts for the Reds in the past two years. He was supposed to be a big part of the Reds rotation by now, but hasn’t panned out quite the way they would have hoped. Sound familiar? The Clippers have a few pitchers like that, namely Sowers and Laffey. But David Huff is the next in line. It could be argued that those three would make some rotations in the bigs. (It could be argued that all three of them could be in Cleveland’s rotation by the end of the month.)
The point to be made is that the Clippers have an outstanding team. Particularly the outfield. LaPorta, Brantley and Head should push each other and provide some pop in the line-up. Brantley and LaPorta of course came over in the trade for Sabathia – Brantley was the player to be named later. Brown, Aubrey and Hodges on the infield are nothing to overlook either. Here’s to a great season by the river!

The Clippers were at Gameworks last night (here in Columbus) signing autographs and talking to fans. They were all very personable – signed just about everything that was shoved in front of them. I’ve lived in Columbus all my life and this is the first year that I’m really excited about watching minor league ball.
Man, wish I wouldve known about that… Good stuff, BG.
i personally cant wait until i can drive from campus to watch pavano get lit up for half the price of an indians game…
Columbus 12, Louisville 4. Just sayin…
Already light years ahead of the Tribe in terms of offense and defense.
That’s all.
