Cavs Kind of Roll Through Hawks
March 22, 2009Here Come More LeBron James Rumors
March 23, 2009While We’re Waiting aims to be the round-up of the recent WFNY-esque information for your morning viewing. Have something you think we should see? Send it to our tips email in the sidebar.
Okay, now he’s just showing off with all of these broken records: “With four blocked shots in the Cavaliers’ 96-88 victory over the New Jersey Nets on Sunday evening, Ilgauskas became the team’s all-time leading shot blocker with 1,202, surpassing John “Hot Rod” Williams’ 1,200.” [Brian Windhorst/Plain Dealer]

Marla Ridenour catches up with Brady Quinn: “There’s always rumors; it’s the drama of the NFL.” [Akron Beacon-Journal]

And then there were two? “[Aaron] Laffey came into camp the favorite, and I still think he’s the best option, but Scott Lewis has pitched the best of the three. I think it’s a matter of time until Sowers is optioned down, leaving Laffey and Lewis to battle it out over the next two weeks.” [Lets Go Tribe]

The run was still fun: “Cleveland State had to shake its head over late Sunday afternoon after being eliminated by Arizona, 71-57, in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. […] But while the shots were there on the kick out, they would not drop. CSU wound up 3-for-23 on 3-pointers, the starters going 1-for-16 beyond the arc.” [Joe Maxse/Plain Dealer]

Wouldn’t this just be wonderful: “Alex Mack is packing his bags for a pair of visits to AFC North teams this week. According to a source, the former Cal center will spend some time in Baltimore visiting with the Ravens and will also be making a stop in Cleveland to visit with the Browns. The interesting dynamic at play is that unless the Browns plan to make Mack, Scout.com’s top-rated center in this draft class, the No. 5 pick overall, the Ravens could certainly pluck him off the board at No. 26 before Cleveland gets another shot at selecting him. Why not take Mack, Faine worked out so well for us.
/ sarcastic
Another one of the million mock drafts that I’ve seen out there have the Browns taking Raji at 5. Not sure I understand the thought process, unless he can line up at end also, or they are definitely trading Rogers.
I have a hard time comparing Mack to Faine, Mack isn’t even close to being Faine’s type at 6’4″ 310+. But I cannot see the Browns tying up that much money on the O-line, with the contracts that JT’s and Steinbach are carrying.
To #3 – I can see your point, but I also believe that awesome O-lines make average teams really good. I can’t see them economically spending that much cash on an O-line, but it would substantially improve their running game and pass protection.
But, yeah, they need more help on D than they do on offense.
I think the Browns are hoping to take Mack with the fourth selection in the second-round. The basis behind Thompson’s piece is not as much that we would take him fifth overall, but that if the plan is to nab him in the second that he would not be there.
FWIW, Barry McBride selected Mack with the fourth pick in the second during Scout.com’s mock. Orakpo was taken with the fifth overall.
And Chris, I’ve actually heard that the Lions are considering Raji first overall. Thats how good a lot of people feel this kid is. I’d love him if we could run a 4-3… could you imagine the middle?
It would probably look something like this
Lol Chris.
Thanks to the CSU Vikings for an exciting season. Hopefully next season some disgusted Browns fans will spend their money supporting a winning program like the one Gary Waters has put together instead of lining Randy Lerner’s already full pockets.
@Boom: That’s assuming Waters doesn’t bolt for a fatter contract like he did to Kent State after they upset Indiana in the NCAA.
@ Tron – Good point, but after his 5 abysmal seasons at Rutgers, he may have given up on that for a while.
Of course, I could also be completely wrong.
Good news is that Arizona won’t be calling him for their opening 🙂
Lewis deserves the 5 spot… but LaPorta deserves a starting OF spot and that won’t happen either.
