Lebron Contemplating a Number Change?
February 16, 2009NBA Trade Rumors: Amare Stoudemire… To Toronto?
February 17, 2009While We’re Waiting aims to be the round-up of the recent WFNY-esque information for your morning viewing. Have something you think we should see? Send it to our tips email in the sidebar.
“Every time we go on the road (and especially the last road trip since the tip wasn’t until 9 p.m. EST) we have pretty much nothing to do in the hotel all day. Surprisingly, Coach Matta doesn’t just turn us loose and tell us to be at the gym sometime before the game starts. Because we are usually bored out of our minds and because doing frog splashes on my bed is only entertaining for about two hours, we are forced to think of alternative ways to entertain ourselves. That’s why I decided to start bringing my Super Nintendo on the road trips.” [Mark Titus/Club Trillion]

An ESPN update on the NBA Trade Deadline: “Tantalizing as it is to imagine what Stoudemire’s arrival in Cleveland could do to the championship chase, one source close to the situation was highly pessimistic that a third team could be found to facilitate a deal that would land Amare with the Cavs and Szczerbiak’s contract in Phoenix. And the player Cleveland is believed to want most? He remains unavailable, because the Clippers continue to tell inquiring teams that Marcus Camby (along with rookie guard Eric Gordon) is an untouchable.” [Marc Stein/ESPN]

Tribe ace Cliff Lee on Alex Rodriguez: “Those tests were supposed to be anonymous, and now they’re not,” said Lee. “Now they’re talking about potentially suspending him? I don’t think it’s right. I think it’s over and done with. He came out and admitted it and said he was sorry. What else do you want him to do?” [via Paul Hoynes/Plain Dealer]

Camby is untouchable? at 34 years old? I can understand that, the Clippers are definitely on the cusp of something big, and you most definitely want to build your young team around a guy in the twilight of his career.

//Is not surprised at all why the Clippers perennially suck
not to mention the fact that they have Kaman, Randolph, and DeAndre Jordan waiting in the wings…
You guys have to realize we’re talking about Donald Sterling here. I may sound like a broken record, but you simply cannot apply logic to the way the Clippers are run. Camby’s contract actually decreases next year, so to the Clippers, his contract is not that bothersome to them, and he’s having his best season in 6 years.
I’m frankly more surprised that the Clippers have made Kaman untouchable. Not that I would want him in Cleveland, but it would seem to make sense that they would want to move Kaman for an expiring contract. But, again, you know…..logic. It doesn’t work in the case of the Clippers.
rock – agreed completely. the clippers and sterling make no sense. it just salt in the wounds that one of the few shrewd moves they made was at paxson’s expense – i.e., fleecing the cavs of andre miller.
Actually, it’s the opposite. The Cavs fleeced the Clippers, as their lack of success after trading away Miller is how they got LeBron. And that isn’t coincidence…..that level of failing was premeditated.
That Shaq dance was the best.
I LOVED NBA jam!!! I was always the Hornets. I used to have it on My SNES and had the Darth Vader code. I was nearly unstoppable. Until my neighbor got good and made me his man b*tch.
I need to whip out the old Nintendo and see if I still have bubble bobble or Super Mario 3 somewhere.
Wow NBA Jam. I loved dunking from half court. ahhh..the memories where you only needed to push 3 buttons. Now it takes a genius to play and be good at NBA games.
Does anybody know where to find the cheat codes for NBA Jam? I was trying to find the code for where you could be one of the game computer designers. A certain birthdate and player selection gets you this little white guy wearing a wife beater and a derby hat. Seriously. I wanted to show a friend as there is an old version at a bar we sometimes go to…
