Jackets Preview Game #54
February 10, 2009While We’re Waiting… More A-Rod, an MLB Salary Cap and Limiting Anderson Varejao
February 11, 2009First, it was a shamockery. Then, it was preposterageous.
Now? Well, now it’s:
FORTU-NIST-ICE.
Yep, I made that up myself. It’s part forunate, part opportunistic, and ALL JUSTICE.
After a knee injury has claimed the All Star participation of Toronto’s Chris Bosh, the Cavaliers’ Mo Williams was named as Bosh’s All Star replacement. While obvisouly we don’t like to see guys go down with an injury, and of course the fact that Mo Williams is only going to the All Star Game because TWO guys have gone down with them, it is still nice to finally see Williams getting some recognition for his strong season and his importance to the Cavaliers.
What say you, Cavs fans? Redemption? Or too little, too late?

Wouldn’t it be awesome if he was the All-Star MVP?
Too bad it’s Brown coaching, or it’d be awesome to see Rivers put him in for less than 3 minutes and piss him off further.
Now if you’re Brown, what do you do? Play Garnett/Howard/Allen 35 minutes each, or bench Garnett for Mo after about 15 seconds?
I’m so tired of this story…
Happy for him though.
Umm.. hooray for injuries? I don’t see how this changes anything.
Bottom line: winning a championship is the best way for the team to show the world how wrong the original picks were.
@ Ezzie –
Play Garnett & Co. 47.5 minutes each. Keep rotating Bron-Bron and Mo in just for kicks.
Might just be me but it seems that Sunday loss to the Lakers really sucked a lot of optimism out of this Cavaliers talk…
An All-Star appearance is an All-Star appearance! Injuries, unfortunately, are a part of the game and every year across all sports guys are replaced in the various All-Star games due to injuries. If a player gets in due to the injury to another player it is still an awesome accomplishment! Congrats Mo!
…..and once we get Delonte back – WATCH OUT!
how good could you feel when you were the 3rd choice?
It’s good he’s an all-star but at the same time it’s terrible that it took so long, I am still with LBJ’s original comments.
Brown isn’t going to play guys some ridiculous amount of minutes from other teams, it’s called etiquette and the unwritten coach’s law. But, we can still hope.
Oh ya, I’m still 2nd in the WFNY Fantasy B-Ball league, IF I win, do I get a prize?
I am happy for Mo but I feel like this should already have fired the team up.
I am really looking forward to getting West and Pavlovic back. Is Kinsey going to be back this season or is he done?
Cavs are on the verge of losing consecutive games for the first time all season. Way too many turnovers, and horrible three-point shooting are doing us in so far.. Only two minutes left, down seven
Cavs come all the way back. Then TJ Ford buries a shot with 0.8 on the clock. I don’t have the game down here (stupid Blue Jackets), so I don’t really know what happened next.
I don’t know about that foul. Fortunate. What do you guys think? Great ending though… and it’s still going.
what happened next was an attempted alley-oop to LeBron, who was fouled going to the rim. then LeBron hit two shots. but Indiana just attempted the same play with .04 left and they also got the foul call. there is .01 left and Indiana scored one foul shot. they are about to win.
Not time to panic yet, but the Cavs need a rest and a regrouping.
Fortun-ist-ice got the song “Virtue and Vice” by the Black Crowes in my head.
Mo he really is, fortun-ist-ice…
after losing to the pacers we should have NO all-stars. we are playing horrible D as of late. ok maybe im just a lil upset with the NO all-star comment..but seriously we have no D
I hate to self promote, but if you guys want to see the snapshots of the foul, it’s on our site (no link provided! I’m trying to follow the rules).
Tough ending, I thought it was pretty obvious that neither should have been called. I’m getting more concerned that we’ve reverted to last year’s Cavs with the LeBron standing and dribbling, while the defense gets set. Obviously, he’s good enough to have nights like he had tonight, sans the turnovers, but still, that is not a formula for success.
The double-edged sword of tonight was that LeBron shot 15-21 and 13-14. Yeah, it’s great to drop 47 points, but when he’s shooting like that the other guys seem more willing to just let him dribble-dribble-dribble-shoot. Live by the sword…
Though I didn’t watch as much of this game because I was watching the “stupid Blue Jackets” (sorry, Jacon Rosen) take care of the Avalanche.
I was born in Akron. I have no hockey connections in me at all. Sorry about that DP.
It’s an acquired taste… kind of like whiskey.
It may just be me seeing this, but it seems like when Delonte went down to injury, so did the Cavs defense. He was the catalyst on the defensive end of the floor, and since he’s been injured, it seems like the Cavs only play defense when the game is tight, or they’re losing, or not at all (3rd quarter Lakers game). I hope when Brother Red Bush comes back, he brings the D with him.
I think the All Star break is coming at an ideal time. This team is beat up – physically, emotionally, and mentally. The off time will allow our team to heal up and refocus. I think they’ll be fine, but it wouldn’t surprise me at all if they lost to Phoenix tonight.
