Happy Fourth of July

July 4, 2008In a move that appears to be long overdue:
CLEVELAND, OH — The Cleveland Indians today announced the club has recalled RHP JENSEN LEWIS & RHP BRIAN SLOCUM from AAA Buffalo. To make room for Lewis and Slocum the club has designated RHP JOE BOROWSKI & RHP RICK BAUER for assignment.
This will at least give Mark Shapiro and company 1o days to figure out what to do with the same guy who managed to save 40+ games last season. Can the trade market be very strong at this point? He is just fresh off of another blown save. If no one offers anything for him, he’ll likely be placed on waivers.
Good riddance?

Too little too late. Are Shapiro and company hoping to save face by potentially eating JoeBo’s salary? Is that their best way of showing a commitment?
I wonder if they can even get a player for JoeBo at this point.
To answer your question….yes, good-freaking-riddance.
Very much so good riddance, I want to see if Kobayashi or Perez can handle the role of being a full time closer (since I know Betancourt can’t), none of this “by committee stuff”, that never works. I know they both have struggled at times this year but if they are assured of having the job even if they mess up a few times maybe they will have more confidence and pitch well
This was a little overdue. JoeBlo was never a great closer, but last years team had a lot of charisma that helped him out of a lot of jams. Not so much this year. Peace out JoeBlo.
NA NA NA NA….HEY HEY HEY….GOOD BYE!
