Second Verse, Same As The First
April 22, 2008What to do with Adam Miller
April 22, 2008Obviously, we’re thrilled to see the Cavs roll out to a 2-0 lead over the Wizards. We’ve whipped out Alltell commercials and even created a comic strip. But that’s what you do when you’re biased. What about those that aren’t along the same rooting lines as ourselves? Let’s take a look…
D.C. Sports Bog – Listen here, DeShawn. These people are throwing you a lifeline. They’re brazenly feeling your face. They’re telling you it’s over. They’re making fun of the jerseys that your team’s leaders selected themselves. For the love of Yayo, you’ve got to start not feeling your dang face already.
Kelly Dwyer (Ball Don’t Lie) – LeBron James is the MVP, and though this game does nothing to change what is a regular season vote, it should be noted that this guy just put down 30 points, 12 assists, nine rebounds, two blocks, a steal, and one turnover in a 90 possession game…
Two or three trips to the charity stripe don’t make or break things in a 30-point loss, but that first quarter was pretty revealing. Everything counts, now. The Wizards downed a Eddy Curry and Luol Deng-less Bulls team in 2005, complained (rightly or wrongly) about the refs in 2006, and had the injury excuse in 2007.
What’s lacking this time around?
MCBias (Sports on my Mind) – So…um…how about them Nationals? That’s about all the frustrated Wizards fans can discuss right now, as the Cavs will win this game by double-digits for sure. I considered making a video of sorts covering the game, but I’ve never been a fan of crime documentary shows.
Bethlehem Shoals (The Sporting Blog) – [The Wizards] were so focused on (literally) bashing James, which didn’t even work, that they forgot to do anything else. Arenas gets a pass, for the knee, and the wrist, and the fact that he hasn’t barely played since last spring. Everyone else should be ashamed.
Wizards Insider – It may be time for Plan B.
AOLSportsBlog – [Arenas is] also still coming off the bench, but with the Wizards returning to D.C. for Games 3 and 4 with down 0-2 with their tails between their legs, I wouldn’t be surprised if he returns to the starting lineup. Antonio Daniels may have been a respectable fill-in starter while Arenas was hurt, but he’s done jack lately, combining to score just eight points with two assists in the first two games.

Is it wrong for me to hope they win one of these games… so we can clinch in Cleveland? Or should we just root for an all out sweep ?
Thank you for the links.
I think this would be a great idea to continue (assuming you typically read all these sites anyway).
I think the Wiz will probably win game 3, a little home cooking plus the Cavs have been a terrible road team.
I vote for sweep. We’re more rested for Boston and there isn’t much significance to us winning this series.
i definitely see a letdown coming.
1. mike brown is not a good coach.
2. the wizards are a prideful team and won’t let us do that on their home floor.
3. you can expect bad officiating slanted towards the wiz
4. no way wally, boobie and ben wallace are all going to contribute twice in a row.
i wouldn’t be surprised to see the wiz even it up, but i still think the cavs move on.
even it up over the next two games…in case i wasnt clear enough.
difference between winning in 4 games and winning in 5 is not all that much so I am not concerned about the extra rest. Winning two in Washington will be very tough so losing one is not necessarily a bad thing, it would refocus the team a little bit just in case they get a little lax following this big win. and the extra home game does nothing to hurt gilbert’s wallet
dan gilbert that is. i just realized that someone might think i meant arenas
I was surprised to learn that the Wizards’ “leaders” had chosen those atrocious jerseys themselves. Perhaps the whole series began to sour for them at the very moment that they locked their brains together and out rolled black shorts with tan-gold tops.
@ Adam: I’ll do my best. I can find some of the better commentary out there. I’m an avid reader of Steinberg (which was aided by playing the Wiz each of the last two years as well), Shoals and Dwyer. As long as the rest keep up some solid work, they’re as good as linked!
I am loving all the comments (from the fans) about how lebron flopped on Haywoods flagrant foul. He was in mid-air…..how do you flop from mid-air?
Actually, Cleveland had the 10th best road record in the NBA this year, including 9-6 against the Western Conference on the road. They were bad on the road down the stretch this year, but they were pretty bad at home, too. I think the Cavs have proven they CAN win big games on the road this year….it’s just a matter of seeing if they keep the intensity and focus up. At times this year, it has seemed like the Cavs problems were mental.
Exactly…..the Cavs just seem to really not give a **** every once in a while, especially on the road. I doubt that happens in the playoffs
I agree, yesterdays game seems radically different from the team that we had before the playoffs. I guess thats what happens when they get motivated.
I say we sweep if we can. I would love to see our current playoff win streak continue against the wizzzaarrrds.
Yeah I would like to see them close out here, but I would rather sweep and use that momentum going into the Boston series
