February 4, 2008DA and Winslow Added To Pro Bowl Roster
Two more members of the Cleveland Browns were rewarded for their great play this season when they were added to the Pro Bowl roster today.
QB Derek Anderson is replacing an injured Tom Brady and TE Kellen Winslow II is replacing San Diego’s Antonio Gates. This brings the total number of Browns elected to the Pro Bowl to 6, which truly is an astounding accomplishment when you consider that prior to this season the Browns had only had one Pro Bowler total since their return in 1999.
No word yet on if/how this will affect Winslow’s impending surgery, but on a personal note, I could not be happier for K2. The guy has been an absolute warrior on the field for this franchise and I am quite happy to see him rewarded for his contributions. As is GM Phil Savage, saying,
“We’re excited the Browns will have such a presence at the Pro Bowl this year. Kellen (Winslow) has overcome so much in the past two years and is a real catalyst for our team. Derek (Anderson) became the starter under difficult conditions after week one and led us to ten wins and a 7-0 home record. Both will grow from this experience in Hawaii.”
The Pro Bowl takes place February 10th at 4:30 pm on FOX. The Browns will be represented by WR Braylon Edwards, KR/PR Josh Cribbs, OT Joe Thomas, LS Ryan Pontbriand, Anderson, and Winslow. OG Eric Steinbach was the lone snub who didn’t make the team through injury replacement. Best of luck to all these players and may the hopefully represent the franchise well in Hawaii.
