The 5-Hole – Blue Jackets News and Notes: 2/17/09
February 17, 2009Pronk and PEDS: A Response
February 17, 2009Brian Windhorst reported this afternoon that Cavaliers’ forward Ben Wallace is traveling with the team, but is listed as questionable after receiving 14 stitches in his forearm. Wait a minute. The Cavs didn’t play last night, how in the world did Ben Wallace get a cut that bad? Oh, he was “catching a football”. Really?
Wallace was injured while playing catch with a football in Richmond, Va. and received stitches there. He returned to Cleveland on Monday and was treated this morning at Cleveland Clinic Sports Health for removal of additional glass pieces from his arm.
I’m calling shenanigans. At the very least, this was a little more than just playing catch. At worst, this sounds like a lame cover-up for something else. “Yeah coach, I was…uh…playing football. And…uh…I fell on a table. Yeah, and I broke a glass with my arm.”
No word on whether or not Donte Stallworth, Braylon Edwards or Kellen Winslow were involved.

this is getting a little stale. getting rid of larry hughes was important but paying this guy 20 million dollars a year isnt a whole lot of fun. dont know why he gets a free pass
and to make my point, in the picture he is taking a contested jumper in front of antonio mcdyess: is that ever ok? at all?
Forget about getting Joe Smith. He was traded to New Orleans (along with Chris Wilcox) for Tyson Chandler. No way the Hornets are going to buy him out.
Haha….nice one about the Browns.
This would have been a lot more believable if he would have just said he was shooting free throws.
Let’s get a little Staph into the Q as well!
I guessed it was a dunk attempt.
at least he was wearing shoes when it happened (note: I don’t know that to be a fact)
More like he punched out a car window.
Im with TBrett, he either punched his “car window” or he got a little crazy with his RC cars and turned one into those RC death machines like they used to have battle each other on TV.
“Mom always said, “Don’t play ball in the house.”
Only in Cleveland. It’s sad that this sort of news doesn’t surprise me anymore.
This is not surprising news. If it is surprising to you, then you haven’t followed Cleveland sports long enough.
This ups the ante that the CAVS will acquire a big man.
I’m surprised we didn’t get a William Green “Seriously, my girlfriend didn’t stab me in the back. I, uhhhh…. fell on a steak knife. Yeah, that’s it!” reference here…
DP-perhaps he was stabbed with an icepick by a jealous lover? (what movie was that one from again?!).
[…] style of the buzz cut. And while most of the focus regarding Ben Wallace will be on the cut sustained by his arm, it appears that Big Ben has tossed in a diversion tactic of his […]
i hope he will be okay because we need him to go to the playoffs and LeBron can’t do it on his own. sure he got mo delonte wally and others but we need Big Ben
