Third Time’s the Charm – Mo Williams Finally an All Star
February 10, 2009So This Is What A Losing Streak Feels Like
February 11, 2009While We’re Waiting aims to be the round-up of the recent WFNY-esque information for your morning viewing. Have something you think we should see? Send it to our tips email in the sidebar.
“So, I guess, when it came to Alex Rodriguez and steroid use, I was probably well to the left of the norm. I wish he hadn’t done it, and I think it’s a mark on his permanent record, but I still think he was and is a great baseball player, one of the greatest of all time. And I don’t think he should go to jail or be deported or be forced to write ”I will not do steroids“ 10,000 times on a chalkboard. He’ll get booed at ballparks, people will bring ”Druggie“ signs to his games, reporters will mention the positive test in countless stories from here on in, it surely will cost him some Hall of Fame votes too. He’ll pay a hard price in his own way. And I don’t think he did much different from many other players, including some who would no doubt shock us even more.” [Joe Posnanski]
If we re-aligned the MLB conferences by payroll, we’d sure be traveling a lot – but would win a considerable amount of games! [Cleveland Reboot]
Justice is Served? “The game was played at the Cavs’ preferred pace and LeBron James was good for 47 points on the night, but the Pacers used a full team effort at both ends of the floor to hang with the Cavs all night and hold on for the win. The Pacers started the game with an 8-0 run and that would be the biggest lead either team would enjoy the rest of the night. Both teams took turns holding the lead but four points became a comfortable margin late in the game. But a two-point lead with 0.8 seconds left turned quite painful for the Pacers, when the refs decided to put their fingerprints on the finish.” [Indy CornRows]
I may be able to forgive Danny Ferry if someone else lands Amare Stoudemire. But if we sit on our hands and Boston lands P.J. Brown (again), I won’t be very happy. [Reds Army]
And finally, one of the better links of the last few days. A “brief” list of things that Anderson Varejao should not be allowed to do. For example:
1. Dribble.
2. Dribble and then shoot.
3. Attempt to formulate a solo offensive move.

And I don’t think he should go to jail or be deported…
That’s a good thing Joe, because I’m not so sure you can deport someone to Manhattan.
yeah ferry needs to get amare…but, we are in cleveland and we dont buy big names players in any sport.
Re Varajao, tru dat. Love the necessary toughness he brings to the team, but even after 4(?) years in the league and plenty of minutes, he hasn’t developed a single reliable low post move. And his desire for the big bucks has given him every incentive to come up with one. Because he is not much of an offensive weapon, he’s already a poor man’s David Lee, whose next contract Andy’s agent will undoubtedly be citing. The Cavs will have an interesting decision on how much to offer to try and keep this guy. To make a good decision, Ferry will have to accurately gauge the rates of J.J. Hickson’s development and Ben Wallace’s decline.
ARod-do you know what drugs you took? “NO”
ARod-do you know where you acquired those drugs” “NO”
Nuff said, put him with Clemens, Mac, and Bonds. Anyone who would believe a multi-million dollar athlete would injest or inject any substance and not know completely about it and where and how the process works is LYING. And, anyone who believes it was just a three year episode because ARod said it was so is naive.
That type of absurd lying is an insult to anyone who would root for this tainted statistical whore.
The Cavs need low post scoring. Send Wally, JJ, and a 1st rounder to the Wiz for Jamison and Eton Thomas (bad contract). Teams can double LeBron with either Andy or Ben on the floor. I love JJ’s potential, but he’s not going to help us win a title this year. AJ would.
As much talk as there’s been of late about the Cavs needing to keep Wally for reasons of chemistry need to notice the slide in performance that’s happened as of late. Team unity can be a great thing, but playing good basketball is more important.
Boom-why would you want to sacrifice future cap flexibility (ie Stoudemire/Bosh/Wade…) for Jamison’s long term contract? With all due respect, I’d rather stand pat or get a role player (Joe Smith) than lose all that cap space that will be coming off the books. Besides, Jamison is more of a shooter at this point of his career and will be on the downside in ensuing years.
I honestly believe the Cavs have no chance of getting one of those big free agents in 2010. Why would they take $30 million less to play in Cleveland?
As great as LeBron is, a player being his Pippen wouldn’t be able to make up that difference in endorsement opportunities in Cleveland. In New York, maybe, which is why I could see the Knicks getting Bosh, Amare, etc. if LeBron goes to them.
The Cavs need to use their expiring contracts in trades for stars because that is only way they will get that type of player to Cleveland.
deported? careful…A-Rod is from Miami. That’s America.
Boom-I’m ok trading expiring contracts for stars, but Jamison ain’t it. We need strong physical post play-besides the bad long term contract, Jamison isn’t the post player on either side of the court; he’s content to jack up jumpers at this stage of his career.
I would like someone to present Andy with that list. It would do wonders for my health, not to mention the offense of our team.
RandyOSU hit the nail right on the head…A-roid is a tainted statistical whore…i hate what he and others have done to the game i love
