January 9, 2011While We’re Waiting… Andy’s Out, Tribe Notes and A.J. Green Anyone?
January 10, 2011Cavaliers center Anderson Varejao went from questionable, to out indefinitely, to this, per the team:
Anderson Varejao injured his right ankle and foot during Thursday afternoon’s team practice at Cleveland Clinic Courts. He was examined and received X-rays and MRI at Cleveland Clinic Sports Health immediately following practice, the results of which revealed an injury to the peroneus longus tendon.
In order to confirm the extent of the injury and diagnosis, a follow-up MRI was obtained today in Phoenix at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center. The results confirmed a complete tear of the peroneus longus in the midfoot of the right ankle and foot. Anderson will return to Cleveland in the near future for further consultation and treatment decisions will be made and he will likely miss the remainder of the current season.
Cavaliers Head Team Physician Dr. Richard Parker will coordinate additional consultations and facilitate subsequent treatment plan recommendations. Further updates will be provided as available and appropriate.
More on this tomorrow. It’s safe to say that Andy is no longer going to be receiving a ton of interest heading up to the trade deadline.

wow when it rains it pours,or in the Cavs world… build an Arc
Wow. Every time you think it can’t get any worse.
Who knows, maybe this is a good thing. As written above, interest in him will come down, we’ll continue to stink it up, we’ll get a good pick (and hopefully he’ll pan out), and then Andy can come back and play with some actual players. ‘Cause even in Andy ups his nightly output from %110 to %120 it’s not making any difference any time soon. Talk the year off, young man.
Or, it’s just bad. I’m still arguing with myself over what’s more valuable: him on this team or him as a trade chip. It would just kill me if we get good again in the next few years and he’s not there for all the intangibles.
*Why did I put the “%” before the actual number?*
With the first pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, the Cleveland Cavaliers select, Jared Sullinger, PF, Ohio State University. He will put up Kevin Love #s until the Cavs suck one more year and get him some support.
Who doesn’t love planning for the 2013 NBA season? At least I know Lebron won’t win a title in 2012… thank god for a lockout.
From a basketball perspective, it’s reasonably decent news for the Cavs… Let him sit, get some insurance money, and the last few holdout fans will excuse any trade of any player.
Use the trade exception for something… Maybe still target Blatche … And next year, we’ll have the first few of our many upcoming picks, along with some returning talent.
Wow this is brutal. What did we do as Cleveland fans to deserve all of this?
Trade Jamison before it is too late!
Not to far from the worst record in the league!
Yeah I agree, get ‘Twan out of here before he blows out his kneecaps
@Roosevelt – About Blatche, um, no, no, no, dear God no. 10 cent head.
