Report: Dan Gilbert in Midst of Heat Tampering Probe
December 1, 2010Game Recap: Wasted Chances Abound as Predators Nip Jackets 4-3 in a Shoot-Out
December 1, 2010One of the great things about writing for this site is that it puts me in touch with some really terrific Cleveland sports writers. I have had the good fortune to interact not only with all the great voices here at WFNY, but also with a host of other smart and insightful writers from around the web. Over the summer I was lucky enough to catch a game with the writer and creator of of the DiaTribe, Paul Cousineau. We talked all things Indians, threw back a few frosty ones, and had a heck of a time with 6,000 of our closest brethren.
Near the end of the evening, we decided that we should get together more often to share a game and some conversation. Unfortunately, the Indians season–against my ardent wishes–ended. On top of that, both Paul and I lead fairly busy lives that don’t revolve completely around the Indians. Kids and jobs and significant others were mentioned. What to do?
Well, this is our response to that question. Over the off-season, Paul and I will be engaging in a series of conversations that will probe the depths of Indians’ fandom: what are the problems? Are there solutions? What will make 2011 a success to get the team back on the right track? There will be diversions and dark alleys; it’s just the way we roll. We’ll be posting the conversations in an alternating fashion both here and at Paul’s blog.
Here’s a link to our first conversation: what to do about the 3B problem this off-season. Paul is of the mind that a cheap stopgap is the way to go. I, um, root for starting Jayson Nix? Or something like that. Jeez, it sounded better when I wrote it.
Thanks again to Paul for agreeing to engage my non-sensical ideas. And to the guys from both sites for encouraging the dialogue. We look forward to bringing you as much discussion about a last place team as anyone could ever want. For serious.

my viewpoint: if we can bring Kouz back home at a relatively cheap price, then we should do it.
if he has a decent year at the plate, we can always flip him for prospect later.
(or should I have stuck with my Shapiro should sign Branyan for 3rd and trade him back to the Mariners in June joke?)
