Rob Ryan shoots from the hip
October 11, 2009Report: James Davis Not Wearing Pads in Practice Drill May Have Led to Shoulder Injury
October 11, 2009The Browns are bad. The Bills are bad. Who’s worse?
It is the battle of blue collar Lake Erie cities. Here is our Friday afternoon preview. The Browns are 0-4 and in the middle of a stretch where they play 7 of 10 on the road. This is one of the few games on the schedule where the Browns, on paper, have a chance to pull out a W and the best shot until we play at Detroit in late November. K Phil Dawson has been ruled out for the third week in a row. Chris Jennings is inactive while Jamal Lewis is active but should see limited time behind Jerome Harrison. The full inactive list is below. Join us in the comments for what should at least be a competitive game.
Inactives – K Phil Dawson, DB Coye Francies, DB Gerard Lawson, RB Chris Jennings, LB Alex Hall, OL Rex Hadnot, TE Greg Estandia

can we just punt every down? we seem to do that extremely well
this game is hilariously terrible
i have never seen such an ugly game. Except maybe the miami, steelers game two or three years ago where that punt got stuck in the ground.
Wow, good thing BQ wasn’t in. 2/17 for 28yds and an INT.
Who can’t move the offense now?
What was BQ’s line in his half?
wow..kick out of bounds. While I understand not wanting to kick it deep to prevent a run back, didn’t they have the wind at their backs? I’d say kick it deep.
Hank Poteat makes me miss Terry Cousin officially.
We’re not the worst!
wow they got far on that last play.
Not 0-16…BOOYA
All we will be able to say after all is said and done?
This game cost us the #1 pick.
is it possible to have a negative qb rating?
@#61
Yes.
QB rating
15.07 Wow.
It’s official –
The Browns are not the worst team in the NFL… I can sleep now.
if DA is still the starting QB after this, there are some serious explanations needed. At least BQ stunk it up against Baltimore, Denver, and Minnesota – 3 of the top defenses in the NFL.
2/17 against the Bills? cmon.
I only watched the 4th quarter, so I thought historycat was serious about BQ playing a half. DA’s numbers are astonishing.
All right.
12-4 should at least get us a wild card spot this year.
The dance begins.
wow… that game was awful. I felt better watching the browns lose last week then i do now watching them win. Our WRs have Braylonitis.
Well, despite last week, DA is actually bad after all. In fact, this is one of te worst performances I’ve ver seen from
anyone, ever. Only one choice now.
Put in Ratliff.
BUT HE STRETCHES OUT DEFENSES WITH HIS HUGE MUSCLEY ARM!!!
Ya, DA wasnt good… but how many times was there a pass right in the WRs hands? Cribbs had one went to turn then dropped it. Massaquoi pretended to be BE by unnecessarily jumping for a ball and dropped it. Stone Hands Royal had a TD if he closes his hands, and really it was a perfect pass to him… those are just a few i remember off the top of my head.
How is everyone hating on DA? The winds were swirling. There were EIGHT DROPS!!! EIGHT.
Lord.
Brady Quinn wouldn’t have been allowed to throw because the ball would’ve been blown back into his face by the wind.
You people are so absurd.
Watch the games and stop looking at stats. There was nothing he could do.
Yeah, people hating on DA need to reevaluate. Brady Quinn can’t be an NFL quarterback ever. At least DA has a shot. No one was passing into that wind.
That game was disgraceful. That wasn’t football, that was the WNBA. I can’t believe the coaching staff was actually smiling/celebrating at the final whistle.
My brother may have already posted this, but I’m sending it again. How is everyone hating on DA? The winds were swirling. There were EIGHT DROPS!!! EIGHT. Including a perfect TD in the wind-tunnel.
Lord.
Brady Quinn wouldn’t have been allowed to throw because the ball would’ve been blown back into his face by the wind.
You people are so absurd.

It is obvious that the Browns did not play a good game. But that is no reason not to be happy for picking up a win. A win is a win.
Anyone good lip readers? I want to know what Mangini said to Cundiff after he kicked it out of bounds… it didnt look good.
How are you guys defending Anderson. I am not saying put Quinn in but let us bash Anderson a little bit. He only completed ONE more pass to our guys than he did Buffalo. That deserves all the bashing we want to give….2/17 for 23 yards that’s less than 1.5 yards an attempt!!!!!!!!! He could have run a QB sneak 17 times and been more effective.
That’s fine. Bash away (not that you need my permission). But don’t say Quinn would’ve done better. And at least make SOME acknowledgement that the receivers dropped everything in sight. Even the dink and dunks that were on the mark – the kind that usually make it seem like BQ had a respectable completion percentage.
@77 – I’m pretty one of the words started with the letter ‘F’
That was the WORST game of professional football ever played.
Jack…..I’ll say it, QUINN WOULD HAVE DONE BETTER.
Put BQ in and play it out and let’s see what the kid has, not what absurd judgements people make after 2 1/2 games of what is essentially a rookie season. Replaying this DA thing is gonna get beyond pathetic (sorry bobby).
Jack-read this again, QUINN WOULD HAVE DONE BETTER. (by a LONG shot).
And, when will ANYONE in here start recognizing what is in place with ROOKE OC Daboll. Sheesh, that one was a predicitable as play doh.
Quinn is not a rookie. I wish people would stop saying that. He’s a third-year journeyman quarterback with a noodley arm.
Hey…they won…shut up
We won and have been competitive two weeks in a row. Everyone needs to relax. It was a putrid game from both teams but let’s take the win and relax a bit. We knew the Browns were not a very good team before the game and then we got a win. It’s sad but that is the state of this season.
No, the special teams and “defense” won…..the offense is 0-5!!!!!
The bullet points are up.
I criticized Daboll today, but I think the criticism in other games this season has been blown out of proportion. Today the play selection was beyond awful.
ugly win still equals a win…if we play like that next week the steelers will beat us 77-0
Anyone who read the Simmons mailbag recently can recognize this as a moral defeat. Has there ever been a victory that gives you LESS reason for optimism? We know the Browns can barely beat another of the worst teams in the NFL when said team commits 13 penalties and 3 turnovers while going a combined 6-19 on 3rd and 4th downs. That makes me hopeful for the future!
You will not see Quinn in future games unless DA goes down. Mangenius inherited BQ’s contract with heavy accelerator clauses based on playing time. $o, he’ll $it.
seven dropped passes today, but at least we got the monkey off our back…no, make that a silver-back gorilla.
If we weren’t allowed to claim “moral victory” last week, then you’re sure as heck not saddling me with a “moral defeat” today. Was it putridly ugly? Yep. Does it still count as a +1 in the “W” column? Yep.
The Browns win when I am in Ohio. Unfortunately that happens about twice a year.
Look for the next win to occur Thanksgiving weekend.
Since there is another Jeff now, I have to put in Alaska I guess. I sort of get the whole idea of feeling worse about this win than the loss last week, but it still is a win. DA’s stats were horrible, but it didn’t seem fair with all the drops either. He could have had at least respectable stats if they catch the damn ball.
I don’t think Quinn will play much either now. Although I hate agreeing with anything Isis rants, I sort of agree about just letting Quinn play out and see what happens. But even with Quinn in there, those guys still would have dropped everything. Next year all I want them to do is sign and draft guys who can catch. I don’t care if the run the 40 in 10 minutes. Just be able to catch the freaking ball.
It is a win this week, and we won’t have to hear comparisons to the Lions this year. At least we have that.
