Anderson sits out during minicamp so naturally the QB battle is now even according to murky Mangini: “Browns coach Eric Mangini gave quarterback Brady Quinn a slight edge heading into voluntary practices last month, but neither Quinn nor Derek Anderson will have an advantage heading into training camp Aug. 1. ‘That was based on the off-season program leading up to that point,’ said Mangini at the conclusion of mandatory minicamp Saturday, signaling with a level hand that the competition was essentially even.” [Mary Kay Cabot/Plain Dealer]

Will the national media cover this like they did with LBJ’s snub: “Nick was waiting and waiting, and Crosby didn’t come over to shake his hand,” Draper told an Associated Press reporter a couple hours later as he was leaving Joe Louis Arena. “That’s ridiculous, especially as their captain, and make sure you write that I said that!” [AP/NBC Sports]

Wedge is comfortable with Jamey Carroll at the top of the lineup:Â “Eric Wedge spoke at length today about how valuable Jamey Carroll is to this club. He said he views Carroll as more than your standard utility guy. ‘He’s more of a regular,’ Wedge said, ‘but he’s not a guy you’re going to play seven days a week. If you give him calculated days off, he’s going to perform.’ And now, Carroll is the Tribe’s leadoff man – at least, on the days he starts. Ben Francisco, who is 4-for-his-last-30, kind of nosedived in the leadoff role, so it’s Carroll’s turn. ‘I like him up at the top of the order, whether it’s leadoff or the two hole,’ Wedge said of Carroll.” [Anthony Castrovince/MLB.com]

Hmm… Shaq to Cleveland? Why not.
More proof that Crosby is an over-hyped punk.
Crosby is a little punk. Ovechkin should be the one getting hyped by the NHL. How can the ‘captain’ sit out 1/2 of GAME 7, but come back and celebrate without even showing any sign of injury? They’d have to take me to the hospital before ever trying to get me to sit out in such an important game!
Crosby just won his team a championship. I think he’s properly “hyped.” Besides, if you just won a championship and were that excited, you might forget something like that.
Ovie would have exploded with excitement and wouldn’t have shaken any hands for half an hour because he was busy skating into every wall panel on the rink.
Was not expecting a Crosby/Ovechkin debate on here today.
Unfortunately for Crosby, he isn’t even the best player on his team, let alone in the league.
Crosby’s snub won’t get anywhere near the play in the mainstream media and with good reason: hockey doesn’t matter. I’m not even pissed Pittsburgh won – it’s like being the tallest midget – who cares?
No one cares that you don’t like hockey.
