Counterpoint: Passing on Johnny Manziel in pursuit of Pro Bowl talent
May 7, 2014WFNY on the NFL Draft: Joe Gilbert’s 10 Values Picks Beyond the First Round
May 7, 2014Well, speak of the devil! Earlier this week, we heard some rumblings of Kyrie Irving potentially joining the NBA’s elite in getting his own Nike shoe. Just a few days later, news breaks that the Cleveland Cavaliers’ All-Star point guard will have his Player Exclusive Zoom Hypperrev hitting shelves in select House of Hoops stores.
On May 10, Irving will have two variations of the Hypperrev, complete with his “K” logo across the ankle strap, available for purchase. The green and lime colorway is said to be inspired by Irving’s Austrailian heritage while the wine and gold colorway is derived from the Cavaliers. The Hyperrev is the second Nike shoe to get the Irving PE treatment (with the first being the Hyperdunks in 2012-13), but this is the first to have Irving as the frontman of the campaign as well as the first available for public purchase. Irving even hooked up the entire Cavaliers equipment team with their very own wine-colored Hyperrev for the second half of this past season.
While we will await any news on a potential Nike Zoom Kyrie, the wine and gold Hyperrev will mark the first Cavs-based shoe to hit shelves since LeBron James’ Zoom LeBron 7. Both shoes will retail for $120.
