February 16, 2014While We’re Waiting… The next GM for the Cavaliers will be?
February 17, 2014Following a dazzling array of dribble drives, highlight reel assists and several huge three-pointers, Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving took home the 2014 Kia All-Star MVP award. Irving, helping lead a comeback win for the Eastern Conference, finished the game with 31 points (on 14-of-17 shooting), five rebounds and 14 assists. He led the East with a plus-14 point differential.
“It’s a great honor,” Irving said. “We had a few MVPs. Everyone out here today is an MVP.”
Following the game, Irving signed and tweeted the image above, dedicating his award to the city of Cleveland.
“I try not to get too high or too low,” Irving said. “It’s a great accomplishment, especially bringing this back to Cleveland. That’s the most important thing.”

Man, I hope this weekend is what gets Cleveland turned around. I feel between Kyrie’s performance tonight and Dion’s the other night, the Cavs may finally turn a corner and get in the playoffs (I think for some odd reason the Cavs would be fun to watch in the playoffs, even getting swept by Indiana).
I didn’t get to watch it last night, but I am oddly not excited about him playing his best game of the year in a game that doesn’t count. But good for him, I guess.
Great game by Kyrie. Now commence every media member on the planet talking about Kyrie leaving Cleveland
KIA. Kyrie Irving Award.
We already know that Kyrie can dominate any streetball game, anywhere.
And now back to our regularly scheduled basketball games, with defense and toughness and knowing how to close games out. No “And-1” alley-oops, buddies clearing the lane so you can make a video highlight and each team scoring 80 points per half. Great, his basketball idols just lauded him for doing exactly what Mike Brown’s been trying to wean him from for the last 2 months. Kyrie finally ran the offense against Detroit. We’ll see if he slips back to hero ball after this national attention.
Hey, you punks! Get. Off. My. Lawn.
😉
The best sign from this weekend was that Kyrie was apparently going nuts when Dion went into the assassin mode in the rising stars game.
I actually thought the best part of this weekend was watching Dion go into “FU” mode in the rising stars game. I know Irving is good, I want to see Waiters get in that zone, too.
yikes, forgot. If we criticize the man-child he might leave. Quick, cue the music, boys: “Please stay, Kyrie … We are not worthy …”
OY VEY!
And this is why you don’t trade a player like Kyrie Irving!
you are ridiculous and acting like the girlfriend who got rejected (by LBJ) and is even harder on the new guy because you aren’t over being hurt by the last guy. Get off it.
actually, I like LeBron the athlete and wish him well. What I don’t like: Cleveland fans who act more like lemmings than objective observers of the local performers. As for ridiculous? yeah, probably, and pretty often.
You kids now get off my sidewalk. I mean technically it’s not mine it’s cities but still it’s its in front of my house and I want you off of it. And dont even think of moving out to the street to play stick ball because if that ball lands in my yard Im keeping it.
I make a motion that we adopt some Godwinian Law regarding the use of dating relationships in comparison to athletes and fans relationships. We’ve taken it as far as can go.
Harv, I agree with you 100%, but in sports as in life happiness is a fleeting thing. Enjoy the thing for what it is, I promise you there will be another opportunity to critique KI’s defensive acumen and effort. Probably Tues. when MCW goes for a triple double.
