Ohio State hoops: From hunter to hunted in less than a year
January 22, 2018Browns eying Todd Haley as next offensive coordinator
January 22, 2018Complex’s Joe La Puma took the trip to Cleveland last month, and the reason for his stay became clear on Monday as Isaiah Thomas makes his appearance on the latest episode of “Sneaker Shopping.” Thomas and La Puma meet up in Cleveland’s Xhibition, the streetwear boutique housed in Ohio City.
Watch below as Thomas drops a quick $2,900 while discussing everything from the Cavalier guard’s childhood to why he wears Kobe Bryant’s sneakers on the court today.
Growing up, Thomas took much of his style from his father who was big into Nike’s Air Max line. When in college, however, Thomas’ eye turned toward Jordan Brand as some of his most memorable moments—his first dunk, his first Sports Illustrated cover—featured retro version of Nike’s offshoot line. In recent years, IT has moved toward playing in Kobes due to the low-top nature of the shoe (“I’m a small guy,” he said.) coupled with Bryant being his favorite player of all time.
When asked about potentially joining the ranks of current Cavs teammate LeBron James in the signature sneaker ring, Thomas said “One day I’ll get it—hopefully soon.”
