It was in a losing effort, and may not have even been intended for him, but Cleveland Browns running back Duke Johnson’s impression of Odell Beckham Jr. earned him the top spot in NFL.com’s Top 5 catches of Week 2.
On a 3rd-and-1 play early in the third quarter, Browns quarterback DeShone Kizer aired out a pass which looked to have been intended for Ricardo Louis1 Johnson spun around and lept into the air with his right hand extended and came down with what amounted to a 34-yard gain against the Baltimore Ravens defense.
For another look at just how difficult this catch was, here’s the FreeD version:
The unfortunate part is the Browns will need plenty more of this from Johnson as the team will be without No. 1 receiver Corey Coleman who suffered a broken hand in the same game.
- Why two receivers were within five yards of one another is wholly different topic. [↩]
