About the Browns drafting quarterback No. 1: While We’re Waiting
November 9, 2016Cleveland Browns Progress Report: Week 9
November 9, 2016Following their blowout win over the Nebraska Cornhuskers and previously No. 4 Texas A&M Aggies being upset on the same weekend, it was expected that the Ohio State Buckeyes would jump up in the rankings. On Sunday, they did just that in the Coaches Poll (moved up from No. 6 to No. 5) but remained at No. 6 in the AP Poll.
While those two polls both somewhat matter in terms of determining how good a team is, the rankings that now mean the most — and determine who makes the College Football Playoff — are the Playoff committee’s rankings, which are revealed every Tuesday night for the rest of the season. In their second rankings of the season, the committee agreed with the Coaches Poll and moved the scarlet and gray up to No. 5, just barely out of the Final Four.

The national media may have their doubts against the Big Ten, but the conference has made a name for itself this season. In the committee’s second rankings of the season, the Big Ten has four teams in the Top 10 (No. 3 Michigan, No. 5 Ohio State, No. 7 Wisconsin, and No. 10 Penn State, which is easily the most of any conference.
In order to make the Final Four, the Buckeyes have to win their final three regular season games, which would include a win over No. 3 Michigan. They also need help from the Wolverines as well. Due to the fact that Ohio State lost to the Penn State Nittany Lions earlier this season, Penn State owns the two-team tiebreaker between themselves and the Bucks in terms of conference record.
With the Wolverines undefeated, and Bucks and Nittany Lions currently having one loss each in the conference, if Michigan wins their next two regular season games and then the Buckeyes beat them in The Game, it would make a three-way tie on top of the division, which would give Ohio State a bid in the conference championship game as they would be the highest ranked team among the three.
Unfortunately, Buckeyes fans have to root for Michigan the next two weeks. In the event you don’t want to root for the Wolverines, root for the Nittany Lions to lose a game before the regulars season ends.

The committee’s love of TA&M is irrational.
The Balto’s record is the only thing keeping them above SUoO. No way they are better.
Had an argument with some buddies last night on this very matter. 9-0 IS THE ONLY reason they are at 4. They have only played 3 teams with an above .500 record this year.
Rutgers 2-7
Idaho 5-4
Portland 3-6
Arizona 2-7
Stanford 6-3
Oregon 3-6
Oregon State 2-7
Utah 7-2
California 4-5
Combined 30-47. Only ranked win came against Utah. I agree 100%. Snowball’s chance in hell they are better than the Bucks. Or Louisville or Wisconsin for that matter.
