Ohio State remains No. 2 in fourth Playoff rankings
November 23, 2016Ohio State releases incredible trailer for The Game vs. Michigan
November 23, 2016There’s still five weeks remaining in the regular season of the NFL, but at 0-11, the season is all but over for the Cleveland Browns. As it stands, they would have the No. 1 pick in 2017 draft, so why not start talking about it, right? Browns Twitter always seems to love talking about the draft, so now is your time to do so.
While many may argue that there isn’t a single quarterback good enough to be taken with the top pick, the Browns seem to have their eye on one particular gunslinger: North Carolina Tar Heels quarterback Mitch Trubisky.
Here’s CBS NFL Insider Jason La Canfora:
The team has put significant time and resources into finding its long-term solution to its ongoing quarterback problem in the 2017 draft. With the college season winding down, multiple sources said the team’s scouts and brass are very high on Trubisky.
Trubisky has not received as much press as higher-profile quarterbacks, but the junior and first-year starter is one of the better prospects in what is perceived as a shallow QB class, and sources said the Browns have been particularly impressed by him. The franchise, which uses a heavy reliance on analytics, has strong grades on him, and it’s not a secret in the scouting community how highly the Browns rate him.
“They love him,” a top evaluator from another NFL club said. “Trust me, they love him.”
The Mentor, Ohio native, who has burst onto the scene this college football season has passed for 3,188 yards, 25 touchdowns, and four interceptions while completing 258-of-370 passes in his first full season as a starter. While showing good accuracy in both good and bad weather conditions, the junior has been quite impressive this season. He has also ran for 215 yards and five touchdowns on 70 as well, so the before has the ability to do either.
There are other college quarterbacks like Clemson’s Deshaun Watson and Notre Dame’s DeShone Kizer, among others, but the Browns seem to have their heart set on the kid from Northeast Ohio—at least for now. Cleveland currently has rookie Cody Kessler, who head coach Hue Jackson has tried his best to develop, but they could possibly try to upgrade the quarterback position before looking elsewhere.
As WFNY’s Michael Bode explained, taking a quarterback with the first overall pick may not be ideal for the Browns. Not only does it seem as though a a gunslinger isn’t worth of the top selection, but with a team that has so many needs, why not take the top player available with all of the picks they have, including two in the first round.
Now, will Northeast Ohio native return home and help the Browns become competitive (and a winning football team). The quarterback carousel seems to have been moving ever since the Browns returned in 1999. Could Trubisky be the answer?

I’m sure whatever the Browns do will be wrong. Pick Trubisky and he’ll be the next Brady Quinn. Pass on Trubisky and he’ll be the next Carson Wentz.
Isn’t that enough? https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/63eb74954a792f6481c0c444cc4a1465005b94841be8d38e3ba07f118a552cc1.jpg

If they are serious about him, then trade down several spots and pick him in the top ten. This would give us another 1st or 2nd rounder next year, plus the switch in positions.
Otherwise, don’t get cute – pick the BPA – we need a guaranteed pro bowler regardless of position.
can you say “smoke-screen” ??? … ain’t no flippin’ way the Browns have tipped their hand possibly sitting with the #1 overall pick.
i’m okay if they “love” him … just don’t “love” him with our first 1st round pick.
hi TSM … if they want a pro-bowl type player , stay at #1 & take Garrett … then try something different , like MOVING UP with our 2nd first round pick & get Trubisky if he is the guy.
Exactly. When I hear a Browns QB target, I imagine his name as the second to last one listed on the QB jersey.
Also, I can’t even imagine what number we’re up to now.
Fun fact: Jason La Canfora’s parrot’s name is Multiple Sources.
the next carson wentz? what does that even mean?
He has joint custody with Chris Broussard.
Of course, I woulds be thrilled to trade our Philly 1st rounder for Garoppolo and then select Garrett with the 1st overall. That would be the best scenario in my view. Get an experienced QB who can start right away as opposed to being developed for a few years.
i’d be okay with that … our first pick in this next draft should be somebody who will start & contribute right away (non-QB).
Pick No. 22, what could go wrong?

Personally I think Trubisky sounds more like a Jets bust than a Browns bust. Then again, what do I know?
