Skyline is gross, Browns versus Bengals : WFNY Roundtable

October 21, 2016I’m not going to lie to you, Believeland. The Indians are World Series-bound, the Cavs are about to kickoff their championship-defending season, and I’m straight up struggling to care about the 0-6 Browns right now. But, responsibility is responsibility, and it’s this writer’s responsibility to share you with you what the Browns will be wearing on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals.
On Thursday afternoon, the Browns interrupted our collective post-ALCS Championship hangover to announce on Twitter their plans to wear white jerseys, orange pants and brown socks in their Week 7 match-up against that orange-and-black team to the south.
White.
Orange.

When I think about this particular color combination, I’m reminded of those tiny and adorable white and orange pumpkins. You know the ones… lined up outside of your local Heinen’s, all over Instagram, popular at your neighborhood pumpkin patch. Blame it on the fact that I’ve got fall fever, but I’m very tempted to call this look something pumpkin-inspired. And then I think about the way the Browns are likely to play on Sunday, and the name The Puntkins just seems like a perfect fit.
Two reminders: First, the Browns have yet to wear those elusive orange jerseys. Second, here’s how they’ve done—and what they’ve worn—so far this season:
Week 1: The Crabby Creamsicles
Jersey: White
Pants: Orange
Socks: Orange
Result: L @ Philadelphia Eagles, 29-10
Week 2: Blandy Corn

Week 3: The Brown ‘n’ Outs

You’re doing yeoman’s (yeowoman’s?) work, Jessica. We appreciate it, even if the Browns continue to gutlessly avoid their true orangier orange calling and identity.

One more week until Full-Pumpkin!
“…and I’m straight up struggling to care about the 0-6 Browns right now.”
Interesting, I never have this experience. I may be frustrated, saddened, depressed, anxious or angry about my team but I never don’t care. Growing up in NEO, football was/is always unequivocally the #1 sport with baseball & basketball a distant second and third, respectively (but those two may have switched of late). Our passion for HS football certainly rivals any in the country & OSU fandom speaks for itself. It’s awesome that the other two major teams are shining the brightest, most favorable light on the North Shore and giving fans something else to cheer but nothing about that makes me love or care about football or the Browns any less. Whatever celebration either the Cavs or Indians might enjoy following their successes, no matter how spectacular in the moment, would pale by degrees of magnitude to what a Browns Superbowl win would do to this city.
Frankly, an inane series of articles focused on the inane need for the Browns to announce uniform combos is probably the hardest thing for me to care about.
Or the BEST thing for you to care about right now about this team…depending on your perspective.
The fact that unis are still being announced is fantastically awful on several levels…which is funny to me.
Promise?
Roger that, Charlie Bravo. This weekly uniform reveal has such a silly 16-year-old-girl “What are you wearing to the dance?” vibe about it. I would be embarrassed to do this regardless if I were an owner, GM, or lowly PR intern.
It’s just for fun, man. It’s fun. Have fun.
I am having fun. Does it have to be your version or is it OK if it’s mine?

Samesies. Regardless, I still always care about the Browns which was the crux of my comment. In hindsight I should have edited out the final sentence. This “old” dog is still learning new tricks.
Why rip on Jessica’s articles? That’s all I’m saying. That doesn’t seem like fun for anyone.
Took care of the last sentence for you since it was past the allotted time for you and you noted you wanted it out.
All good now…back to watching the Browns quest for the No. 1 overall pick today.
As I mentioned above to CB, I should have edited out the final sentence which MG Bode has since taken care of. It was a flippant comment that would have been better left unsaid. I wasn’t intending to rip on anyone but rather comment that my “caring about the Browns” doesn’t change regardless of how they’re performing. Apologies to anyone I’ve offended.
Gotcha. I likewise did not intend to irk you.
That’s what we like to see, guys!
