Know Your Opponent: Rutgers Scarlet Knights

September 30, 2016The Ohio State Buckeyes last game seems like more than just two weeks ago. But, with a bye week last weekend, the scarlet and gray are back in action Saturday afternoon for the first Big Ten game of the season. To start off their conference season, the Buckeyes will host the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, who are one of the worst teams in the Big Ten. But, don’t worry, Ohio State’s video and graphic team found a way to get your amped up for a game in which the Buckeyes are 38-point favorites.
If quarterback J.T. Barrett yelling at his teammates in order to get them pumped up, Buckeye Nation jumping up and down, plenty of highlight-reel touchdowns by Barrett, running backs Mike Weber and Curtis Samuel, wide receiver Noah Brown’s incredible one-handed catch against Oklahoma, or the Silver Bullets proving that they’re not basic isn’t enough to get you ready for Saturday yet, head coach Urban Meyer also contributed with a quote in order to get his players ready as well.
“You’ve been trained for this since the day you walked on campus. For your families and your units. You’ve been trained for this.”
After their impressive win over the Sooners prior to their bye week, the Buckeyes may have a hard time staying focused entering a week that they are big-time favorites against their opponent. Luckily for the players, Meyer and the rest of the coaching staff won’t allow their players to not be focused or ready to dominate, no matter who their opponent is. The scarlet and gray want to start their conference season off on the right foot, even if it is only against Rutgers.
For the No. 2 Buckeyes, every game is important. They will remain motivated whether their opponent is the best team in the conference or worst. And if they aren’t they can just watch this quick trailer and they will be.
Ohio State and Rutgers are set to kickoff at 12 p.m. ET Saturday afternoon in what will be Homecoming weekend in Columbus. Is it Saturday yet?
