August 12, 2016What to watch for in the Browns first preseason game
August 12, 2016Fall camp may be less than a week in, but the video and graphic team has already released their second highlight reel from the practices so far this week. After releasing a highlight video from the first day of fall camp on Sunday, David Trichel and company were busy at work once again, creating the second edition.
The circle drill takes up much of the highlight reel this go ’round. What exactly is the circle drill, you ask? It’s where the entire team plus the coaching staff get in a big circle — usually around the logo on the 50-yard line — and head coach Urban Meyer or one of the other members of the coaching staff picks two players to go against each other. Once the players are picked, they line up, almost like they are about to wrestle, and when Meyer blows his whistle, the two go at it. Whether they are grabbing each other’s pads or just pushing the opposing player, the first one to fall to the ground loses. Obviously, there is no punching or tackling, but the two literally go at it.
When the circle drill really gets really interesting is when the head coach decides to put two quarterbacks in the circle. As seen in the video, Meyer choose backup quarterbacks Joe Burrow and Dwayne Haskins to go against each other. Like in the circle, the two are obviously competing for the backup quarterback spot behind starter J.T. Barrett. Not only are bragging rights on the line, but reputation is on the line as well, as Meyer point out in the video.
“You will have a reputation when you leave the field today.”
Along with the electrifying circle drill, there are always plenty of highlights from all different players on the scarlet and gray, including true freshman wide receiver Austin Mack. While there may be plenty of new faces on Ohio State this season, one thing remains the same: Meyer and the rest of the coaching staff will prepare this team for any situation and they will be ready — both physically and mentally — for any opponent.
With already two highlight videos from the first week of fall camp, the season can’t get here soon enough.

Man, I love football; and I don’t care what people say, the Bucks are winning the conference.
The Ohio State University is the highest football team ranked in the conference, so plenty of people share your viewpoint.
