What is next for Kyrie Irving? While We’re Waiting
August 23, 2016The true Impact of Indians’ winning ways: Between Innings
August 23, 2016According to ESPN.com’s Adam Schefter, there are other teams in the NFL making the intelligent inquiry of attempting to buy low on Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon. Also according to Schefter, the Browns are also making the intelligent move by shunning all would-be offers and rolling the dice on the kid who is arguably their most talented receiving option heading into the 2016 season.
Here’s more from Schefter:
Multiple teams have reached out to the Cleveland Browns to inquire about the availability of wide receiver Josh Gordon, league sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
However, a Browns team source told Schefter that the team is not looking to trade Gordon.
Cleveland has tried to establish an environment in which the embattled Gordon could thrive, and many around league believe first-year head coach Hue Jackson is the right coach for him.
Suspended for the first four games of the 2016 season, the NFL’s decision to allow Gordon to participate in team meetings throughout the preseason appears to already be bearing fruit. While it’s difficult to pin any sort of expectations on training camp storylines, every item surrounding the 25-year-old has been positive thus far. Having no benefit of the doubt heading into late July, Gordon—who has yet to see live game action—is already starting to be met with increased optimism.
Recall back in 2013 when a Joe Banner-led front office had received inquiries to trade Gordon, but reportedly held off in fear of fan backlash surrounding the trade of the offense’s most talented player. Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot corroborates Schefter’s report in that the team is not looking to move a player who can help them win games this season. According to ESPN Cleveland’s Tony Grossi, it appears that these calls are more of the gauging availability mold than any sort of formal offer.
“It’s important for him to be out there with those guys,” said head coach Hue Jackson of Gordon. “It’s important for him to be with the ones because I think he’s going to be one of our better players. We have to put him out there and see what he is capable of doing.”
Gordon, in just 14 games, led the NFL with 1,646 receiving yards in the 2013 season, ending up in the Pro Bowl for his efforts. He was subsequently suspended for 27 of the next 32 games for multiple violations of the NFL’s substance abuse policy in addition to being suspended the final game of the 2014 season for violating team rules. He has 161 receptions for 2,754 yards and 14 touchdowns in 35 career games. He is set to make his preseason debut on Friday night against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

“…not looking to trade Gordon.” = Nobody has presented a good enough offer.
Sure, let us sit on a guy for 2 years and then trade him before we get to reap any fruit. Not a chance. UNless the offer includes a first round pick.
No thanks. But let’s talk Joe Thomas . . .
*With rabble sufficiently roused, he quietly slips out the door.
Trading an overweight, double-secret probation guy who hasn’t played in a couple years … whoa, I see what you’re doing. And I agree – it’s been so freakin’ borrring this summer. No arrests, not even a disheveled TMZ pic between the last minicamp and training canp, we got NOTHIN’. Nothin but maybe the first rounder can play a little, coach saying all his players in Camp Woebegone are above average. This is bull. Trade talk, baby.

i think gordon is lucky he’s getting a fresh start with hue … we know hue has sat him down & talked. i wouldn’t trade him just yet … i like the possibilities RGIII might have in being able to throw to coleman , barnidge , gordon , pryor & hawkins.
Basically how this morning has gone…
Browns: “We’re not trading Josh Gordon”
ESPN: “The Browns want to trade Josh Gordon”
Every fanbase: “OMG We’re trading for Josh Gordon!!”
Steeler fans: “Josh Gordon is overrated”
There’s an EXTENDED version?!? Man I might have to root for this to happen…
There’s . . . TWO!
Then trade everyone who matters to this team so I can see these!
Well, “everyone who matters” might still just be Joe Thomas.
A first-rounder, and they have to take Gilbert.
What is the best that they could honestly get for him? A 3rd or 4th? Maybe a low 2nd?
There’s a sucker born every minute.
I see Dez got another concussion today…
WFNY: Let’s trade Joe Thomas.
I do love how anytime you want to think about a crazy offer, Jerry Jones is the one brought up.
Now you’re talking!
Are they also required to start him the next time they play us?
Garry Owen does not speak for us all!
