Hue Jackson: Too soon to name Robert Griffin III Browns starting QB
May 16, 2016Hue Jackson calls out Corey Coleman for being out of shape
May 16, 2016In a world where sports narratives can only be written in simplistic terms, it’s being reported that the Golden State Warriors have something to prove against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Stephen A. Smith is saying, “I can tell you for a fact, they want Cleveland and they want Cleveland badly.”
That’s what Stephen A. Smith said on ESPN this week when asked about the Warriors and their preference between the Spurs and the Thunder. He claims that the Warriors didn’t have a preference, and that they were confident that they could return to the Finals. Apparently they have a chip on their shoulder, however, due to all the chatter after they finished off a severely hobbled Cavaliers team for the title a year ago.
Here’s the clip.

I don’t know why we have to choose a single minuscule line of truth when there are so many that better represent the whole truth. Why can’t we live in a world where the Warriors are truly a great team with great talent that also happened to have some good fortune on their road to the title a year ago? In any NBA season there are likely three-to-five worthy championship teams and some combination of luck and talent end up playing a role in figuring out who wins in the end. The Warriors were both great and lucky. Both are undeniable, and if the Cavaliers ever end up finding a way to get over the top and win a title there will be a lot of luck involved as well.
The entire title run is rife with luck already as a team that can count Anthony Bennett and Dion Waiters as first round picks in the last decade are somehow sitting home waiting as the most talented team in the East. As Chris Grant’s firing can attest, that wasn’t as much about skill as pure dumb luck.
So the Warriors can have a chip on their shoulders all they want, but the fact is that they’re both a great team and that they defeated a hobbled Cavaliers team a year ago, regardless of desired narratives. Now here’s hoping the Warriors get their wish, or at least the Cavaliers hold up their end of the bargain and make it to the NBA Finals.

Who cares what Stephen Smith has to say.
Wonder if Stephen A ever talks actual sports, as opposed to stuff girls dish in the high school cafeteria. Ooh, she said that? Well you tell her I said …
NUANCE! I HAVE NO TIME FOR NUANCE! I ONLY HAVE TIME FOR HOT TAKES!
You know I spoke to Curry; he’s like a brother to me and blah blah blah.

Take aim.
Band of Brothers awesome series!
And the Cavs want to beat the Warriors that’s called competition not news.
good for them. but theyre going to have their hands full with the thunder.
as for the cavs, i think the full promise of the lebon-love-kyrie plan is only now being seen. throw in jr smith on the edge and TT on the boards and it’s tough to match. and not that it would ever be reported but delly cut curry’s season percentages from 45% 3s and 50% overall to 39% and 44%. i thought delly did good work overall but hey i just watched the games.
but not to be that guy but i kinda am and cant help it… all i care about is the game tuesday and i hope tyronne lue is on the same page.
I don’t care much for his opinions, but I believe this kind of reporting. I’m interested that the Warriors are already looking past the WC Finals.
By “all the chatter,” they must mean the 10% of the chatter that was focused on the Cavs this year and not the Warriors.
just another reason I loathe the Warriors. They’re like spoiled children. If its not ALL about them and how great they are they feel slighted. Id have to imagine fans in other cities are tiring of their attitude. I mean, I know lots of us are, but we are maybe a little biased.
and imagine if Delly didn’t have to play all-out D, plus man the PG position on offense for 45 minutes a game. You know, kinda like this year, with everyone healthy.
GS knows they will still slaughter Cleveland.
GS will definitely beat clvnd IF they meet in the finals. Kyrie and Kevin will help but it will not be enough.
