Alec Scheiner out from Cleveland Browns to explore his “next challenge”
March 4, 2016No Miracles for the Wizards: Washington-Cavs, Behind the Box Score
March 5, 2016Armonty Bryant might find himself a one-way ticket out of Berea before this offseason is up. As if all of the legal issues weren’t enough, the Cleveland Browns announced their outside linebacker and pass-rusher is suspended for the first four games of 2016 under the league’s performance-enhancing drug policy. It’s an interesting predicament for the Browns and their player, but first here’s the release from the team.
Armonty Bryant of the Cleveland Browns has been suspended without pay for the first four games of the 2016 regular season for violating the NFL policy on performance enhancing substances. Bryant is eligible to participate in all offseason and preseason practices and games.
Armonty Bryant has not had a good calendar year. On Christmas Eve, he and a practice squadder were pulled over on drug possession charges. There was a gun in the car and also some Adderall, which is likely the performance-enhancing drug that now has him suspended. You might remember that Adderall was at the center of Joe Haden’s suspension once upon a time as well, and Bryant, who claimed to have a prescription, did not.
So now the Browns have to wade through the legal waters with Armonty Bryant, but also have to put up with a four-game PED suspension as well. Or maybe they don’t have to put up with it at all and can cut ties around March 9. I’m unsure what the exact cap implications are of cutting a player with a four-game suspension, but it seems the team that wants to again build and reinforce a good culture might not bother with an otherwise talented guy who is making just under $700,000 per year. The Vegas odds on Armonty Bryant making it to offseason workouts might be even worse than those belonging to Johnny Manziel.

Odds worse than zero? That is bad
Bryant but not Gronk for PED’s… too bad he didn’t swallow them fast before the cops saw it. He’s hardly a dealer, it was 2 TWO TABLETS.
And why don’t the Browns make it mandatory that all players get carry permits. It’s an open carry state. It just makes sense in the long run.
I hope they drop the charges against both players.
The team wants to promote good culture, so when Jimmy Haslam is indicted, he gets more money $$$$ When the NFL forces him to sell the team
Improve the culture? Sell the team now Jimmy.
Saunders was speeding while driving drunk and improperly transporting a loaded firearm. Yes, let’s hope they drop the charges.
Bryant is lucky he didn’t catch a firearms spec on those felony charges or he’d be facing a mandatory 12 months.
I did not hear about drunk driving, ? THAT is bad to me, if he was drunk I agree suspend all drunk drivers licenses for life. A drunk driver should never drive again as long as they live.
That’s a bit draconian.
