Few among the Cleveland Cavaliers have expressed much sadness over David Blatt’s departure. Leave it to Matthew Dellavedova, then, the ever-cheerful Aussie, to shout out the dearly departed Coach Dave. Dellavedova played 72 games as a rookie under Mike Brown, but it was during Blatt’s brief tenure that he became something of a household name. Amidst all the snark, it’s nice to hear a ballplayer showing appreciation for his head coach.

“Coach [David] Blatt was huge for me,” Dellavedova told cleveland.com. “He gave me a great opportunity. He really believed in me and 100 percent supported me. It was really great for my career, so I’m always going to be appreciative for what he did for me.”

“He gave me a lot of opportunities and really believed in me,” Dellavedova said. “He allowed me to play with a lot of confidence and be myself out there. I’m always going to be grateful for that. You have to be lucky enough to get that opportunity, but then you also have to make sure you’ve put in the work. I’m thankful.”
Christian Eyenga dunked recently. You’ll recall the Cavaliers choosing Christian with the No. 30 overall pick of the 2009 NBA Draft, a year after the Cavs went 66-16. He’s playing with Dinamo Sassari in Italy these days, and even won MVP of the Lega Basket Serie A All-Star Game last year. (Per Wikipedia, anyway.)

The Cavs have tried the draft-and-stash thing with foreign players a few times, but it hasn’t panned out for them yet — unless you’re more taken with Sasha Kaun than I am. Neither Eyenga (from the 2009 draft) nor Sergey Karasev (2013) ever made a true impact in Cleveland. They took another shot this year with Cedi Osman, a highlight video of whom recently came across my desk. See whatcha think.

Onward to football: Tickets to Super Bowl 50 are stupidly expensive — and that’s after a price drop due to the New England Patriots losing. The only way I’m paying two-plus grand to go to the Super Bowl is if I have a major fetish for being patted down by security.

Super Bowl tickets are about 38% cheaper than they were a year ago, when tickets to see the Patriots and star quarterback Tom Brady play the Seattle Seahawks cost an average of $9,722.86. As of Sunday, the average price for a ticket to Super Bowl 50 stood at $6,007.74, according to TiqIQ, a secondary market ticket price aggregator. The get-in price for the game’s cheapest ticket is $3,279, though past data suggests that number could fall to about $2,400 before kickoff.
Lastly, at least one Denver Bronco was very disrespectful to Tom Brady. I love it. I think it’s hilarious. It’s terrible and everything, and we shouldn’t be advocating this to the nation’s children — they’ll discover it on their own, surely — but my god it’s funny. The NFL can be so staid, especially in regards to the whole Brady-Manning rivalry. The last sentence of this excerpt cuts against that beautifully.

This prompted me to see if I could pick up an Eyenga Cavs jersey dirt cheap. None of the site purporting to have them look reputable, plus they’re asking more than $30. Oh well.
The draft-and-stash thing can be a crapshoot but it’s a reasonable strategy for teams in the situation the Cavs are in. Here’s hoping Osman is the next Ginobli. BUT, Karasev wasn’t a draft-and-stash. He was just a bad pick. I’m not usually one for “they could have taken…” but the Cavs had 3 picks in that draft including the #1 overall and they failed to come away with even a role player. It was a bad draft, to be sure, but it was still ultimately a pretty serious failure on the part of Chris Grant.

Adolescent a-holes like this clown are always crying about being disrespected, but they don’t have a bit of respect for anybody else. What a jackass.

This isn’t a mob pleasing story the better one was Brady being a whiner. The cheating storyline ran out of steam when Brady ya know wasn’t suspended. This is the world we live in now.
