Some videos while you Black Friday: While We’re Waiting…
November 27, 2015Know Your Opponent: Michigan Wolverines
November 27, 2015With the Kyrie 2 looming right around the corner, Nike has decided to leave one of the best colorways of the point guard’s first signature sneaker for last. Paying homage to Irving’s insane 55-point night against the Portland Trailblazers last season, Irving’s “Opening Night” sneaker is doubly titled the “Double Nickel.”
Said teammate LeBron James of that historical night:
Just watched live one of if not the one greatest performances by a person and he happen to be my teammate/runningmate/brother @KyrieIrving!!
— LeBron James (@KingJames) January 29, 2015
One of the most detailed Kyrie 1s to hit general releases, the “Double Nickel” comes in a white and metallic silver base, brandished with university red accents in the way of the Swoosh, in-tounge signature and “KI” logo on the insole. What may appear to be a standard Kyrie 1 on the outside is much more as the tongues replace the standard logo with two nickels, one with Irving’s face and the script “In Kyrie We Trust.” The numeral 2 that typically sits atop the rear heel plate is inverted into a 5, giving the appearance of “55” when paired together.
Arguably one of the cleanest looking Kyrie 1s to be released, this edition will also be allowed to grace the feet of Irving and various other Cavaliers as the scheme matches the team’s uniforms.
This colorway joins similar “Opening Night” releases for LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Kobe Bryant. Bound to be a big seller given the holiday season, the “Double Nickel” Kyrie 1 will retail for $130 and can be found a Nike.com and other participating retailers starting at 10 a.m. EST on Black Friday.
