This girl REALLY likes the Browns drumline, and other Vines
October 22, 2015White-on-brown uniforms work, Browns to wear them again in Week 7
October 22, 2015The folks over at COMPLEX Magazine brought together their super group of sneaker scribes, seeking to find the most influential names in the game. While the list is littered with designers and musicians and entrepreneurs, five current athletes make the cut, the highest ranked of which is Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James.
From COMPLEX’s John Marcelo:
No Nike athlete will ever top the legacy that Michael Jordan built, but LeBron is coming in at a close second. At 30 years old with a few more years in the NBA ahead of him, LeBron is 13 sneakers deep, and there’s already been talks about possibly retroing his sneakers. According to Forbes, LeBron was the top-selling basketball player of last year, bringing in $340 million from his signature sneaker line. His body of work in sneaker culture speaks for itself, and no one in the NBA right now is even coming close to his impact.
Thirteen years of a signature sneaker line will oftentimes garner some consideration for the top spot. As stated, nothing James or Kobe Bryant (No. 10) or Kevin Durant (No. 8) do between now and the end of their careers will allow them to touch the legacy that is Jordan (No. 1). Given the current state of affairs, it makes sense for Nike CEO Mark Parker to sit at No. 3 and Kanye West (who can literally sell anything at this point) to be right behind Jordan at No. 2.
If there were a slot between three and four, LeBron would easily take it over with his line of shoes being retroed at some point in the future. Until then, we can just sit here and hope that the first batch to get remade are the Zoom LeBron VIIs. Please?
