Ronda Rousey responds to Cardale Jones

July 17, 2015Following one of the most impressive NBA Finals performances in the history of the NBA, Cleveland Cavaliers point-forward LeBron James’ navy jersey from Game 1 and Game 2 was sold on Friday,
According to Darren Rovell of ESPN, James’ jersey sold for $46,000.
44, 8, 6 – He may receive some criticism for his would-be game-winning shot or his 38 field goal attempts, but LeBron James was dominant. His 44 points were a Finals career high, and he added 8 rebounds and 6 assists. He continued to struggle from deep, shooting 2-of-8 on three-pointers, but he was effective scoring and distributing from the post. He hit midrange jumpers early, and converted a host of tricky hooks and floaters in the lane. He forced some shots, the last one in regulation looming the largest, but he played a superb game, the sort the Cavs will need if they hope to come back against Golden State.
40.3, 7.8 and 12.0. Those are LeBron James’ averages in his last four games against the Golden State Warriors. What more do you really need to say about his play, his leadership, his all-around performance? In three of those games, he had a chance at a game-winner against Andre Iguodala. He made that shot on Feb. 12, 2014, with Miami. By the end of Sunday’s game, LeBron ended with a pretty poor shooting efficiency line at 11-for-34, but nobody seemed to really care about that. He was able to control the offense whenever it mattered most. His pace following defensive rebounds was a difference maker. He moved the ball around to teammates much more effectively than he did in Game 1. Again, he’s demonstrating the kind of postseason dominance he displayed from 2011-14.
Whether James winning the ESPY for “Best Championship Performance” Wednesday night or the fact that he is just LeBron James, the fact that his jersey, the one in which he wore for the first two games of the NBA Finals, sold for that much money is impressive.
James championship performance included video game-like numbers, almost averaging a triple-double during the six game series – 30.1 points, 11.3 boards, and 8.5 assists
Unfortunately for James, he will not make a single penny off his jersey being sold. According to Rovell, players do not get any money when the NBA sells a game-used jersey, but the game-used jersey sales do factor into other income.
Obviously, this jersey would have been worth a lot more if the Cavaliers beat the Warriors to win the championship, but a LeBron jersey is a LeBron jersey; people will do whatever they can (or in this case, pay whatever they need to pay), in order to get a “piece” of James forever.
