July 21, 2015Information overload, Hoosiers uniforms, and Scrabble: While We’re Waiting…
July 22, 2015Veteran center Kendrick Perkins has reportedly agreed to a one-year deal to join the New Orleans Pelicans, bringing his storied Cleveland Cavaliers career to an end. His final numbers as a Cav: 17 games played with 2.6 points, 2.4 rebounds, 1.6 fouls, and 1.2 turnovers per game.
Perk joined the Cavs in February after being bought out by the Utah Jazz, for whom he never played; the Jazz had acquired him in a trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder. Perkins didn’t play much for the Cavs, though he did have a memorable moment or two as a, how do you say, protective teammate.

Perkins will take his special brand of enforcing to New Orleans, where he will serve as mentor to budding superstar Anthony Davis, per ESPN’s Marc Stein (and Royce Young). It’s a one-year minimum deal, which will pay the 13-year veteran roughly $1.5 million.
It’s tough to pick just one favorite Perk moment from his time in Cleveland. If pressed, I would choose his very first points, for it was on that evening in February that he showed us his grace in full.

I’ll miss his smile most of all. Farewell, sweet Perk. Have fun in New Orleans. Enjoy the gumbo.

We’ll always have Tony Brothers trying to explain to Crowder why Perk wasn’t ejected. And Perk all like: “What exactly does a dude have to do to get ejected?”
Sasha Kaun will gladly take his spot!
