LeBron: We have to play better (Video)
May 21, 2015Kyrie Irving will try to play through injuries
May 21, 2015The Cleveland Cavaliers took Game 1 from the Atlanta Hawks behind a huge shooting night from J.R. Smith, the aggressiveness of LeBron James (early, at least), and the rebounding of Tristan Thompson and Timofey Mozgov. Atlanta appears to have lost Demarre Carroll to a knee injury, while Kyrie Irving still isn’t right for the Cavs.
Dan Labbe of Cleveland.com was nice enough to have me on to talk about the Cavs’ 97-89 victory. We discussed what should be expected from J.R. Smith going forward, the effects of the Carroll and Irving injuries, the interior dominance of the Cavs’ bigs, and how well Matthew Dellavedova can hang in a playoff series.1
Things look pretty good for the Cavs after taking Game 1 on the road, and we tried to figure out what that means ahead of Game 2 Friday night.
Note: The severity of Carroll’s injury has yet to be revealed. It looked bad, and he is undergoing an MRI today that will clarify the situation.
Multiple sources tell me #Hawks feel there is no structural damage to DeMarre Carroll's knee. MRI today

Edit: His MRI revealed no structural damage, and he is day-to-day.
Good news on the DeMarre Carroll front: I'm told the Hawks SF has nothing structurally wrong with the left knee and is day to day.

- The phrase “endearingly bad” was used to describe his 20-foot high lob to no one in particular. [↩]
