Indians provide Friday funnies with the Jerry Kipnis Show
April 3, 2015LeBron James named Eastern Conference Player of the Month
April 3, 2015The Indians announced on Friday that pitcher Josh Tomlin will have have arthroscopic debridement surgery on his injured shoulder. The surgery was warranted after Tomlin was found to be suffering from chronic AC joint inflammation. The Indians have set next Wednesday, April 8th, as the day of the surgery at the Cleveland Clinic. The timetable for his return to action is estimated to be around 3-4 months. The Indians had previously optioned Tomlin down to Class AAA Columbus last week. This move will be rescinded and he will placed on the disabled list to start the season.
Tomlin tried to pitch through his shoulder pain this spring, but he said the pain lingered on too long. “Once the bad days started outweighing the good days was when I knew something probably needed to be done,” said Tomlin about his injured shoulder. This spring, Tomlin pitched in three games (two starts), notching eight innings with a 4.50 ERA, seven strikeouts, one walk and four runs allowed. He did not have his stuff this spring and it looks like we have our answer on why after the news of his shoulder injury.
This injury adds another pitcher to the disabled list (pitcher Gavin Floyd is likely lost for the season) and it shortens the list of available arms for the Indians this season. The Indians set their starting rotation with Corey Kluber, Carlos Carrasco, Trevor Bauer, Zach McAllister and TJ House. Danny Salazar might be the only other legitimate starter for the Indians after losing Tomlin and Floyd to injuries. Keep an eye on the starting pitching situation as we go through the Indians season.

Not a fan of Marcum, Chen, or Swarzak?
Atleast we had depth.
MLB pitching is a game of survival. Depth depth depth…
Poop
Which is the biggest reason why I like our chances over the rest of the division.
White Sox are the team to beat watch.
I’ll be glad to beat any of the teams in this division.
The White Sox look pretty good on paper when everyone’s healthy. But they are going to seriously test that need for depth. They have so little that they’re playing replacement level every day.
