Carlos Carrasco hit in face by come-backer; carted off after eight pitches
April 14, 2015Browns jersey unveiling and Michelle Schwab – WFNY Podcast – 2015-04-09
April 14, 2015After what felt like months of speculation and iPhone photographs of stock rooms, the Cleveland Browns ended it all by unveiling their uniforms on Tuesday night in front of thousands of season-ticket holders and various members of the local media.
Combining to make nine different combinations, the team, in collaboration with Nike, lifted the curtain on three different jerseys and three different pairs of pants—white, brown and orange. The tops come equipped as advertised in the various different leaked images with “Cleveland” on the front above the numbers which are shadowed in white (the orange jerseys are white numerals shadowed in brown).
“I love having Cleveland on the front,” said All-Pro left tackle Joe Thomas.
The Browns will be the only team in the NFL with contrast stitching on their jersey and will have the largest chest word mark in the league.
“If you look good, you feel good, you play good,” said Pro Bowl safety Donte Whitner, who said his favorite combination was all orange.
The pants and helmet, the two items which harnessed any mystery leading up to the event, have subtle changes. The entire uniform is darker and bolder, showcasing the team’s new color scheme. The helmet comes equipped with a new brown facemark; the pants say “Browns” down the side.
The uniforms were two years in the making and, according to many involved, was a lengthy, high focus process.
“It’s an exhaustive process you go through with the NFL,” Haslam said of the change. “I thought it was something you did and you could have it ready for the next season. I remember when they told me you can have it for the 2015 season, that seemed like forever.
“The process I initially thought was ridiculous in terms of how long it takes ended up being very good.”

At first I did not like any of them.
But the old brown and the all orange ones look pretty good to me. I was really looking forward to an all brown with orange highlights uniform, kind of the Robocop of Cleveland Browns look.
I think “Browns” on the pants is just dumb.
(browns fan since they came back – a little younger – and have not missed watching a game in 6-7 years)
I have no say on this silly argument since i did not grow up with the browns. I have never looked at uniforms, or can even pick in a line the style of uniforms of every 32 teams. I simply don’t care and everyone here should not.
BUUUUUTT WITH THAT SAID, Don’t touch the helmets, do not touch the helmets. Please jimmy, just don’t touch the helmets. just don’t touch the helmets. I really hope they don’t touch the helmets. please do touch the helmets. Who cares about the uniforms? the NFL is all about the helmets.
I fell in love with the browns even when they weren’t playing in the 90s because of the all orange helmets. My favorite color is orange. I really hope they don’t change the helmet. The browns helmet is the absolute best in the NFL. just don’t touch the helmet. please don’t change the helmets.
I’m very surprised that I don’t hate these. They have an element of, “screw you, we like being the Browns so much that we’ll wear it on our pants.” Love the unapologetic dominance of the words “Cleveland” and “Browns.”
I like the brown & white.
The one-color brown, or white are bearable.
The all orange suits look like pumpkins, which are okay for the doorstep, but not on the gridiron. Complementary contrast is critical.
Amen. The uniforms aren’t perfect, but they’re actually pretty decent. A few small things I’d change, but I don’t understand why everyone here seems so upset. There’s nothing outrageously wrong, and it’s definitely a facelift.
Small changes: I wouldn’t have those shoulder stripes so large or coming out so much. If they’d end closer to the sleeve and be smaller the jerseys would look much sharper. The same is true of the shadowboxing on the numbers, certainly on the brown jerseys. The shadows should be much more subtle or gone, and the numbers a bit smaller. I’d really like the shoulder stripes up the side instead of across it. Not sure about the Browns on the pants but at least it is more toward the back so the fronts look pretty sweet.
Jerseys look way better in pads than not.
Yeah MrC! And if you don’t like all those INTs being thrown, where are your TD passes? No more complaining from you until you start winning games for us and designing unis. Also, can you play baseball by any chance?
Aw, look at that little kid they let on stage. They even let him wear #18!
Personally I think the effect is subtle enough on these that it won’t become dated as quickly as that Niners look did. The stripes bleeding into the chest area is the part that I have the most issue with.
When it comes to money its only really three different combo’s, no one buys football pants.
I’m with ya. I hate to say it, but I think my favorite combo is orange top, brown pants – two things I do not like by themselves. I hate the writing on the pants.
Otherwise, a solid job.
This is how candy corn came to be.
You’re forgetting one and it’s my issue with the entire “reveal”
4. The overblown hype for a variation of the old theme.
For 2 years the organization has let it out that Nike would be designing “new uniforms” and that they were under “intense lock and key” and required “TV testing” and would represent “the future” but pay homage to “the past” and “no no no we swear those aren’t the ones you all say three weeks ago” and blah blah blah blah blah.
There is NOTHING in these jerseys leading to the future, there’s no outside the box thinking, there’s no bold statement….in the “uni watch” world of things it’s simple variation to their old theme. Same boring block font, same orange/brown/white color scheme.
This team cries that it is suffering to attract the younger fan base and guess what…they blew their chance; again all because their too afraid of losing “Jim from Parma” as their number one fan.
Just my opinion that the second someone saw the media train running away with THE BROWNS ARE GETTING NEW UNIFORMS they should have stepped in and said “yes, we are but they will be a variation of our old theme” and stopped it right there.
The team’s primary colors are brown and orange. You can only do so much with brown and orange. They’re just not pleasing colors.
The aesthetic value will be linked closely to the team’s performance. I promise you, if the Browns make the playoffs in these unis, they will be instant classics that some future generation will lament with the next major uni change.
They’re fine. I didn’t like the brown jersey at first…but, now that I’ve seen it in the context of the whole uniform, it’s fine.
Thanks for the call.
Yep. And all teams have at least 3 different jersey options. Also even if pants were included people would still only have to buy 6 items, not 9.

i like ’em , right down to the orange & brown cleats with the orange laces … i especially like the brown on brown uni.
I am not a fan of the monochrome unless it is the storm trooper all-white. All-orange with orange helmets frightens me.
That said, I think they did a solid job. They updated the look without diverging from the history. I think these will fit right into those “Brown is Beautiful” pictures that detail the uniform changes over the years.
Thank you for your condescension.
Someone get Mingo a sandwich or three, please
Mr. Cleveland said “where are my designs?”. Sounds like he submitted something to the browns. I want to see what he made.
It’s been a few days now, and I doubt many people will read this post, but I am officially stating that I love the new uniforms. I was brainwashed at birth to be a Browns fan, and I still have a framed black and white of Bernie behind Baab on my wall. If that black and white was in color, itwould have shown my favorite Browns unis of all time, circa 1991.
I fully expected to hate the new uniforms when they were unveiled Tuesday night. My buddy texted
me saying that it looks like the Bengals ruined their uniforms in a car wash then sold them to the Browns. My brother texted me that they looked tacky and desperate. I have successfully convinced them that the
unis are, in fact, fully awesome.
Kudos to the design team who boldly decided that we should be the only team in the league with the city name on the uniforms. I think it’s safe to say that we’re the only ones with words on our pants (feel free to correct me if I’m wrong).
These new uniforms will not win us one game. They won’t magically produce an effective quarterback, and they won’t stop any of our star receivers from getting baked. But they look flat-out bad ass,and I did not expect them to.
If you still hate them, do one lifelong fan a favor and reconsider.
