Did Andrew Wiggins spurning LRMR lead to his trade?
February 4, 2015Cleveland Browns facing serious consequences for Farmer’s in-game texts to sidelines
February 4, 2015Have you ever heard of a young, well-compensated offensive coordinator who was out of a job as little as a year earlier corralling his superiors and providing them with a 32-point presentation on why the team should let him out of his contract? Well, if not: Welcome to Berea!
Take it away, CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora:
At season’s end [Kyle] Shanahan, the lone bright spot on offense, perhaps, presented [head coach Mike] Pettine with a 32-point presentation on why he wanted to get out of his contract, sources said. And after much deliberation among lawyers and negotiation, in a bizarre precedent, a statement was crafted and Shanahan was a free man. He would end up in Atlanta, a coveted job, and a hiring that [former Browns CEO Joe] Banner, consulting for Falcons owner Arthur Blank, played a role in; [Former Browns GM Mike] Lombardi just won a Super Bowl ring as a personnel advisor to Bill Belichick. Allowing Shanahan to walk sent shockwaves through the building, with such a talented coach allowed to go at a time when the Browns desperately needed to develop a quarterback and with a quarter of the teams in the NFL needing a new offensive coordinator.
The staff and the front office are not inspiring great hope for the future and the overriding sentiment in that building, from the people I speak to, is that Haslam will be making sweeping changes again by the end of the 2015 season. And you have to wonder at this point when that trend will change.
Speaking of Haslam, an earlier point in La Canfora’s long form skewering of the Browns states that team owner Jimmy Haslam is “way to hands on” and that everyone in the building is trying to do other peoples’ job. The culture is toxic. Morale is beyond low. And the worst part? There is reportedly no shortage of individuals throughout the building who would like nothing more than to “get the hell out of there” if at all possible. First, they’ll need to brush up on their use of Clip Art.
The Cleveland Browns: No quarterback, but there’s PowerPoint!

Johnny Manziel is a great example of people performing at the level of expectations…
I really hope he just texted it to all of them.
I like it when the text comes in to the sound of a typewriter
He only needed one reason: it’s Cleveland
Tough Love is needed by the Browns fans. They need to boycott the games until current ownership is forced to sell. A few years of pain and ownership will need to sell. Any new owner will be an improvement over what they can expect for the next 50 years.
