My Sportsman of the Year: Michael Brantley
December 8, 2014MLB Winter Meetings Primer: The Indians Won’t Stand Pat
December 8, 2014The Holiday Season is upon us, and for many, the holidays are a time of rituals and traditions. Here at Waiting For Next Year, we believe in tradition as well, and one of our personal favorites is the annual WFNY 12 Days of Christmas contest series! This is now the seventh year in a row we have done this contest, as hard as that is to believe.
How does it work? It’s simple. Every week day from now through Christmas, we will have a different contest with a different prize package to give away to you guys. It’s our small way of showing our appreciation and saying thanks for hanging in there with us for another year. Each day will feature a different, unique contest. Some will require getting a correct answer, some will be selected randomly among all entries, and some will feature haiku writing, of course. So check back every day for your chance to win one of our prize packs!
We get things started on Day One with a couple items from two of WFNY’s friends and partners in Two Bucks and GV Art and Design. We have a $10 gift card to Two Bucks and a Large WFNY T-Shirt from GV Art and Design. Win this prize and you can look extra stylish as you enjoy the fine food at your favorite Two Bucks location!
Today’s Contest
The Cleveland Cavaliers are playing the Brooklyn Nets in Brooklyn this evening (Monday, December 8), so what better place to start than with a Cavaliers-centric question. We’ll start off with a simple guessing game. So here’s the question: Who will be the Cavaliers’ leading scorer, and how many points will they score? The person who guess the correct person with the closest points total wins1!
To enter, simply leave a comment in the Comments section below2 with the answer to today’s question. I’m not eligible, but I’m going to get the contest started by saying that LeBron James will lead the Cavaliers tonight with 29 points. See? It’s that easy. So what are you waiting for? Go get your best guesses in below, and good luck!
The Fine Print (in normal sized font) and Rules
Only one entry per person per day is allowed. This is very important. Anyone who submits more than one entry is immediately disqualified. Only one winner per household per year is allowed. Winners will be notified via email. Prizes will not necessarily be delivered by Christmas, but we will try our best to make it happen.
- ties will be broken with a random number generator [↩]

Gonna go Kyrie with 27. Maybe even an assist or two.
Kyrie: 31
(I assume we have ditched the old “state the question first” requirement?)
Who will be the Cavaliers’ leading scorer, and how many points will they score?
KLove – 27 Points
Correct. At least for this contest, anyway. It may be back for ones where the winner is purely selected at random. The ‘repeat the question first’ thing just makes it easier to separate the entries from the general comments.
Lebron 32 points, this is kind-of funny as I literally went to a Two Bucks for the 1st time yesterday
Kyrie with 30
Kyrie with 29
Kyrie Irving – 28 points
Lebron goes for 42
K-Love with 26
LeBron drops 30 and (bonus) fist bumps JayZ courtside
Kevin Love 27
LeBron: 33
LBJ – 31
Love 28
Who will be the Cavaliers’ leading scorer, and how many points will they score?
LeBron with 25
Lebron with 25
Lbj 28 pts
Kyrie 34
Kyrie’s been nuts lately, but I think K-Love gets another big game with 29.
Since the prince and princess plan to attend, gotta be the King.
LeBron puts on a show, for 34.
Kyrie Irving, 31 points
He’s going to have Deron Williams and Jarrett Jack trying to guard him.
Anderson Varejao, 23points.
If for no other reason than to remind people that AV led the team in scoring once already this season (no, I would not have picked Tristan Thompson even if he had ended with more points than LeBron against Toronto. It ended 21-24).
LeBron goes for 29.
LeBron – 37
Lebron with 24
Luke Witte drops 6.
Dion with 26.
Hey, not like anyone had won yet…
Give it to him!
