The WFNY Sportsman of 2014: LeBron James
December 31, 2014Ohio State and Alabama: What to Watch
January 1, 2015So—this happened. From the same Little Better To Do folks who brought you all of the truth-seeking videos regarding LeBron James and his stripped triple-doubles comes a video thread that claims to include some cryptic dialogue between the Cavaliers star and Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade.
Right around the 2:50 mark, the post author insists this came out of LeBron’s mouth:
Listen to this link carefully – Did LeBron say to Wade on Christmas: “Like I said, if we aren’t better this year, we’re gonna re-unite again and do some bigger and better things, alright?”
Perfect timing, right? Not only did WFNY just name James the Sportsman of 2014, but there have been plenty of 140-character pitchforks on Twitter and the like aimed in the four-time MVP’s general direction.
It’s a bit weird that the video cuts away to an advertisement when the alleged comments are made, but it is an official NBA video. Like inferred over at CBS’s Eye on Basketball, there has long been talks of James and Wade getting together following their respective retirements—they’re great friends and still speak three-to-four times per week.
From Mike Prada over at SB Nation, he believes the more accurate quote is:
“Listen, we’ve done it before. We’re gonna reunite again and do some better things, alright?”
Naturally, the Internet is ablaze with this one. It’s expected James will be available before Wednesday night’s game against the Milwaukee Bucks.
Update: James spoke on the matter despite being inactive against the Bucks.
“Come on guys,” said James. “I’m not stupid. I know I didn’t go to college, but I’m not stupid. I wouldn’t say that on Christmas with a hundred cameras around. But it’s just me, so I get it. It had nothing to do with me leaving here and reuniting with him. It had to do with talking about things other than basketball. But whatever—it’s crazy.”

He totally says “we gonna reunite again”
Very weak evidence that he actually says “if we aren’t better this year,” which is the crucial clause for the inference that he’s talking about leaving the Cavs. The audio at that part is particularly muffled; he could be saying anything there. (Cue the “Paul is dead” jokes.) Seems much likelier that he’s talking about off-the-court or family stuff, which I believe both of them have already openly discussed.
But still, the ol’ SS Cavaliers has hit some seriously choppy waters at the 30-game mark.
So . . . he’s advocating for D Wade to Cleveland? Sounds good to me.
Maybe they’ll “reunite again” outside of basketball?
If the Cavs get bounced in the first or second round, would you really put it past LeBron to bolt again? I wouldnt.
i think he meant “in life” or possibly “at the olympics”
I said the same thing to my mom when i saw her at christmas, it doesn’t mean i’m moving home.
I win!
This kind of stuff is so media driven. I saw a video with the yahoo sports team, greg Anthony and others, and they did a perfect job of acknowledging that Lebron called out the media, but totally ignoring that they are the media ginning up this whole bit of stupidity. These guys have no shame at all, they are the lowest of lows: “professional media” acting like TMZ.
Lebron is treated worse in the media than president Obama, and that is saying something.
ITs this kind of nonsense that has turned me off the nba. I just want the drama to be about the games, not this never ending stupid behind-the-scenes free agency soap opera called The Once and Future King (James).
Bahahahaha
I think he meant after the NBA….
I think this means he is going to take his penis and use it in wades butt.
