Johnny Manziel seems unaffected by hype surrounding his first start
December 13, 2014LeBron James will be in house for Johnny Manziel’s first start
December 14, 2014It was only a matter of time, but the Cleveland Browns have waived kicker Billy Cundiff. Though converting all 28 of is point after attempts (and having his coach’s support), Cundiff had become as unreliable as quarterback Brian Hoyer, missing five field goals in the team’s last five games.
Taking his place will be long-time New Orleans Saints kicker Garrett Hartley. Hartley is a 5-9, 200-pound veteran in his seventh NFL season out of Oklahoma. Hartley has appeared in 57 games, all with the Saints from 2008-13. He has converted 82 of 101 (81.2 percent) field goal attempts and 176 of 177 PATs for 422 career points. Last season, he appeared in 14 games with New Orleans. A native of Southlake, Texas, Hartley graduated from Southlake Carroll High School.
Hartley was recently one of three kickers to work out for the Saints. He was a hero during the Saints’ 2009 Super Bowl run, making an overtime field goal in the NFC championship game and three field goals of 40-plus yards in the Super Bowl win. However, he also battled several runs of inconsistency over the last few years. He missed one season with a hip injury and once missed four games for testing positive for a banned stimulant. He will wear No. 10 for the Browns.

This is very good news. Proactive approach to solving a problem that is more serious than most seem to appreciate.
Finally.
I’m not sure waiting for five consecutive games of missed field goals can be characterized as “proactive.”
Now if this guy doesn’t pan out, then I wonder who will be the best kicker coming out of next year’s draft?
And wait until u see Hartley there was a reason he was unemployed.
No Kickalicious?
Fair point. And worse is that it is apparently because Cundiff is injured.
Let’s find the next PD.
another stiff
81% kicking half his kicks in a dome? Ouch. I thought he was better than that.
