LeBron 12 “HRT of a Lion” release date scheduled
October 27, 2014Cheers to a new beginning of Cavs basketball, While We’re Waiting
October 28, 2014Just in case you missed this week’s edition of Monday Night Football, all the Pat Shurmur demons were exorcised on a field. Former Cleveland Browns quarterback Colt McCoy got the start for the Washington Redskins, and while we never root for injuries, I’d be lying if I said it didn’t feel somehow right with the universe that another former Browns quarterback in Brandon Weeden was called into action for Tony Romo. Washington ended up winning the game, giving Colt McCoy his first win since November 2011 when the Browns beat the Jags 14-10.
McCoy went 25-for-30 with 299 yards and an interception. He rushed for a TD to help the cause. Brandon Weeden went 4-of-6 for 69 yards and a touchdown in relief of Romo. Romo came back to finish the game, however, leaving Cowboys fans to wonder what could have been if they’d let the former Browns settle their business properly.
“I’ll take a ton of the blame early in the game,” McCoy said following the game. “In the second half, we just dug our cleats in, and believed in each other, trusted each other and found a way to win.”
Despite my numerous attempts for comment,1 Pat Shurmur had nothing to say about the fateful matchup on Monday Night Football between Colt McCoy and Brandon Weeden. He instead referred all questions to Mike Holmgren and Brad McCoy.2
Somewhat unrelated, but a PR guy for Washington apparently wasn’t feeling the Colt McCoy post-game interview. He man-handled Colt away and screamed “No means no!”

I sat for much of the 3rd Quarter waiting for a ginormous American flag to drop from the Jerry World roof and engulf Weeds. Only in Cleveland, I guess. *sigh*
On Brady Quinn’s birthday, no less.
Yes, echoing Scott, the “surrealness” factor was amplified by it being Brady Quinn’s B-Day. I was waiting for a picture of Charlie Frye in the stands with Tim Couch.
No means no!!!
It was also the anniversary of Jason Campbell’s first start for us, a 20-13 loss to K.C.
Haha… protecting Colt McCoy! I thought only Texas A&M alums got that kind of paparazzi after games!
That PR guy’s on quite a power trip. What a jerk.
Most fun I’ve ever had watching MNF
Surprised we haven’t heard from the reporter yet.
Glad to see McCoy having some success.

For real. I believe he’s got the stuff to be really good, but nobody has actually, fully committed to him yet. The treatment he got from Daboll in Cleveland was shameful (not to mention the concussion thing). I’ll always root for Colt McCoy (unless he plays the Browns, and even then, I’ll quietly hope he does well in a loss). Seems like a really good guy that deserves success in the league.
perfect
OK I have to ask–how in God’s name do you know this?
“I’d be lying if I said it didn’t feel somehow right with the universe that another former Browns quarterback in Brandon Weeden was called into action for Tony Romo.”
Precisely my feeling as I pondered “Could this be more perfect? Why did I chose to turn the tv on at this moment?” If that wasn’t Cleveland Fan Zen not sure what is.
And then this Colt quote, the same as every Colt quote: ” … we just dug our cleats in, and believed in each other, trusted each other and found a way to win.” One day he may run a construction company or lead a ministry, but to me he’ll always be Colt, Texas quarterback born and raised.
Seriously… if we had that PR guy on our OL back in 2011, Colt may still be our QB.
If McCoy hadn’t been playing, I probably wouldn’t have watched any of it.
The only drive I saw of the game was when the Redskins were moving at the end of the game and just needed to get into field goal range to win. Within the course of two plays, Colt had singlehandedly taken them out of FG position by taking a delay of game penalty and a sack on 3rd down, when the worst possible thing he could do was take a sack (he also fumbled on the way down, but recovered it).
Pretty much sums it up right there

What a fun game.
