Cavs to add new scoreboard to The Q
September 8, 2014NFL Rulebook: Is this a catch or not?
September 8, 2014Week 2 of football in Ohio saw a lot of big matchups. In college, many of the Ohio teams struggled including Ohio State, Akron, and Kent State. The local OAC teams finally kicked off their season this week, too. In Northeast Ohio, high school fans saw matchups pitting two top teams in the area like St. Edward against Glenville and St. Ignatius versus Mentor. It was an interesting and exciting week of football in the state of Ohio.
Here is week two’s installment of the Ohio College and High School Football Roundup.
College Football
Ohio State upset by Virginia Tech 35-21
The Buckeyes were simply not good enough on offense and defense to beat the Hokies. Ohio State’s defense was manhandled for a large part of the game. Virginia Tech quarterback Michael Brewer was able to come up with big plays when the Hokies needed it, even through pressure from the pass rush. The defense just could not make a key stop when they too. The offense was mostly a one man show of quarterback JT Barrett, throwing for 219 yards, a touchdown, and three interceptions while running for additional 70 yards and touchdown. He had most of the team’s rushing yards and had not much help from his receivers. The coaches seemed to have gone away from running the ball and mostly relied on Barrett to pass it or scramble for yards. The receivers did not get open nor catch the ball consistently for Barrett, too. This is all added to the fact the offensive line could not block the pass rush, especially down the stretch. It was a bad game all around for the Bucks, including the coaches.

Ohio State not having a running back is sacrilege
Absolutely, hard to believe.
It’s not that they don’t have good running backs ….
VT ran a very agressive defense against us, forcing us to run “max protect” most of the fourth quarter ( making us us our running backs as blockers) just so J.T wouldn’t get sacked.
but I agree, it was hard watching OSU football with no run game.
