August 7, 2014The Cleveland Indians announced today that they’ll be doing massive renovations to Progressive Field. Scott was on-hand for the announcements.

And also, for those who are upset about the Thome statue…
Larry Doby statue is a done deal. Going up next season.

Here are the artist renderings.
The view of the right field seats is going to be dramatically different. Gone are the usually-empty upper decks for new facilities like an expanded kids club and a two-story bar. Additionally, the Tribe is moving the visiting bullpen.
The new concourse in right field will try to pull in the character of the city by drawing inspiration from local neighborhoods like Ohio City and Tremont.Â
Similar to what the Browns did, it appears the Indians are making great efforts to improve entry to the ballpark for nights when there are larger crowds.Â
And remember when there were complaints about the center field bar? Now the Indians will have a two-story bar for younger (legal drinking age) fans to congregate and party at the park.

NO, you are barely a 500 ball club and “nearly”.500 slugging percentage puts him around 25th in the league in one offensive category. He is not in the top 40 for HR, Avg., Doubles., RBI., Hits, etc. He may develop into a power bat but he is not one now, sorry.
RBIs? Okay, I’m out.

Sorry for the typo, nice rebuttal. Call out a grammatical error because your argument is flawed.

LoL obviously you didn’t watch when Manny Acta was here.
oh and i forgot to mention all that super cool silver lining on the uniforms!
Not calling out the grammatical error. RBIs are a stupid, stupid stat. Since you and I clearly have very different opinions on what makes a player valuable, I am retreating from this discussion. Experience tells me that pursuing it would be a circular, fruitless waste of time for both of us.
from the renderings, it looks like the bar area is more you sit in the bar and one wall isn’t there as it’s just an opening to the field. so, it’s the biggest of big screens (though with no zoom lens).
Netting is good for breathability, but really cuts down on vision. maybe netting above the sight lines? either way, will be happy on my annual trip to be able to see the game when my kids inevitably want to play.
for an example of how not to do a kids’ section, one can visit Minute Maid Park. the kids’ section is separated from the concourse so that there is no way to view the field and there is no TV’s in there either. there is a scoreboard that is generally only one inning behind. then, to top things off, the kids’ section is outside in the Texas heat even when the rest of the ballpark is enclosed and in AC.
what if we signed Russell Branyan?
Have to disagree: I love the block C. It looks like it’s plucked from pre-WW2 baseball and that’s a very good thing. Also the exclusively upper serif distinguishes it from just another block.
The block C is actually starting to grow on me. The bright red C on the navy blue cap and bill in particular is pretty sharp. Teams like the Reds, Red Sox, and Cubs, and Tigers have had stylized letters as their primary logo for years. The Tribe’s “C” is a little plainer than those but otherwise ok.
looks exactly like the bears logo. no thanks
That’s what they want the more they show it, everywhere, the more it won’t matter. In the end it’s not about the aesthetics, well, actually that’s what it’s all about these days.
hey man, everybody likes what they like. but, this is not an era of uniforms that I like at all

Lee trade was a failure.
But, Brantley for CC was a win 10.9 WAR v. 4.9 for Milwaukee. Even if we get the compensation pick, it is a +6WAR thus far and no reason to think we’d have gotten anyone as good as Brantley in the draft.
The generic factor is why I don’t like it. If you are going to have something, then be unique (like the script-I).
“boring block C”
….becuase laundry is so much more exciting of a logo.
Looks nice, although if they somehow stole the World Series trophy, why would they want to showcase it? Doesn’t seem like a smart move to me…
i meant just the cap, having the crazy C transplanted onto our current cap (maybe with the chief wahoo feather added) in stead of Block C. i love our current uniforms minus the cream colored one we wear on sundays.
also,if they did bring back the blood reds i wouldn’t wear red pants with it like they did back then (made Frank Robinson look like a blood clot).
AND Brantley was the PTBNL thankfully the Indians picked him and not that 3B prospect.
Huh, what am I missing, can I get a translator please?
I don’t need any more reminders of the last time the Indians actually won a championship. đ
Being better than Acta isn’t much of an accomplishment imo.
agreed, walls should go blue
no mention of a new scoreboard?
You don’t deserve Francona you deserve Acta or Wedge. Ironically both out of baseball unless you count working for ESPN.
One stadium at a time.
1948 was after WW2.
Baseball has enough red C’s.
yep, you don’t hear much about Greene, but the fact is that we chose wisely
was that before or after the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?
All these comments…my correction fluid is here!
This is an A to B conversation so C yourself out before D and E come and F you up
That joke is so old, Moses told it to the animals on the ark while he was waiting for the waters to recede.
You played that card last week. It was kinda funny then. Notsomuch now.
I believe you have issues getting to F if you are stuck with ED.
it was funny when Noah told it while holding up his staff to part the Red Sea and it’s still funny today!

They have medications for that I think!
you are begging for an inappropriate joke off that comment
There, guys, I put my avatar where my mouth is. Looks awe-tastic, doesn’t it, albeit a little small. (Is “little small” redundant?) I searched the Net for over an hour and could not find a better copy of that logo. If anyone has one, please shoot it my way.
But screw Cincinnati and Chicago, I like it.
Yes. I was saying (based on experience in ticket admin) this is what they would do and was shouted down and told it’d be insane to reduce capacity. This was what they needed to do, I would have reduced another 1500 seats but this is a good start though all things considered.
Your precious Red Sox ….. Their logo is literally laundry.
