Better supporting cast, AB in tremendous shape and LEGEN-DARY …While We’re Waiting
July 9, 2014Indians 5, Yankees 3: Bauer and the long ball do in Bombers
July 9, 2014Look, the honest truth is that it’s just too hard to keep up with all the LeBron James free agency talk. Are there meetings? Are there planes? Well, I know for a fact that there are both, but I’m unsure about either involving LeBron James, the Cavaliers, Miami Heat or anyone else.
One plugged in person who has been awfully quiet on Twitter lately is Brian Windhorst. He’s probably just saving all his important hits of info for the air on ESPN, but he did tweet this today, which is instructive.
In a time of reckless speculation this is unequivocal: Heat didn't expect to need 2010-style recruiting meeting with LeBron this summer
— Brian Windhorst (@WindhorstESPN) July 9, 2014
The Miami Heat never thought it’d be this tough of a sell. That’s not surprising to Cavaliers fans. We initially thought paying a guy a max contract with more money than he could make anywhere else would also be the Cavs’ ticket to keeping LeBron in 2010. The minute you think you know something in the NBA, you likely don’t it seems.
So today seems like it might finally be the day that we find out something. Will it go the Cavs way? No idea, but it appears Miami might have to work harder than it anticipated to come out a winner.

Windhorst will have news when LeBron tells him what it is.
Put your hand right up my shirt
Pull the strings that make me work
Jaws will part, words fall out
Like a fish with hook in mouth
Seriously, for Windy be hailed as “the guy who knows LeBron the best” he is the LAST person I look to for breaking news due to him keeping everything as hush as possible for his book.
he’s no dummy. $$$$$$$$
reading all this stuff makes me realize that the Cavs are really doing the only thing they can do: go all out to land LeBron. That’s it – they have to commit. They can’t make promises down the road, they have to show him the money (so to speak).
I applaud the front office and their refreshing and enlightened take on what’s at stake.
If Miami does in fact lose LeBron I have to think that press conference by Riley where he all but named James will rank right up there as a big mistake. Almost as big as Gilbert’s comic sans fan letter the night LBJ announced he was headed to Miami.

Not doubt Riley will be bent, but I don’t see him pitching a conniption fit in public.
But, one can always hope… 😀
Windhorst is being scooped by Woj, Broussard and Sheridan. Either that or he’s keeping quiet because he already knows.
I think he already kind of lost his cool with that unnecessary press conference a week or so ago. But my heart bleeds not for Riley he’s won enough and has an ego just as big. It’s time he felt some of the pain that has been visited upon Cleveland so many times. And how ironic would it be that the pain be inflicted by LBJ.
Or he’s busy calling real estate agents…
Sooo, if LBJ returns to Cleveland…
…does Windhorst keep his job with ESPN?
…does Cowterd’s head explode?
I could see him retiring.
Windy definitely keeps job with ESPN and is re-assigned.
ESPN wants the publishing rights to that book.
No more Heat Index?
I see it this way:
Cavs trade for Kevin Love now. He is the guy they clear cap for. LeBron signs a 1-year deal with Miami for Max money, giving Cleveland a chance to prove something.
Love’s contract is up but he re-signs when LeBron commits to Cleveland next (15-16) season.

great song!
I don’t see him coming back at all, at least not until he’s on his final lap years from now. But if he does, this scenario seems more likely to me than him returning this year.
