ESPN ranks the Browns dead last in off-season power rankings
May 13, 2014A new Browns fan, and a new drug policy …While We’re Waiting
May 14, 2014The Cleveland Browns are going to do everything they can to control the narrative of their football team, it seems. They have decided to be ultra protective with their high profile rookie quarterback Johnny Manziel, apparently barring national media from rookie mini-camp.

So I’m not sure where this fits into the narratives that have been suggested. Did the Browns draft Johnny Manziel to move the needle and sell tickets? Apparently not, if they’re actively limiting media coverage early and often. Maybe, just maybe, the Browns want to do everything they can to maximize the potential of Johnny Manziel and allow him to concentrate on football as much as possible.
Here’s hoping that all these buttons the Browns are pushing are going to work and allow Manziel to become the franchise quarterback the team has needed for so long.

i like bart, local guy. but he’s stuck with geno smith. no wonder he’s peeved.
It’s nice to finally believe that “the amateurs” no longer run the Browns.
national media is barred
I have never read more delightful words in my life.
read:
Ya have any idea who ya talkin’ to? I work for the New York Post! Now move, or I’ll drive my rental right through that gate.
Thoughts:
1) Why would they draft Manziel if they didn’t want the media circus? Hmm, maybe, I don’t know, because they thought he would be the best option for WINNING FREAKING FOOTBALL GAMES? Maybe?
2) The amateurs who run the Browns? Really? Because the “pros” in New York did such an outstanding job of managing the Tebow circus? Physician, heal thyself. Or take the log out of your own eye before pointing out the specks in ours. Or something. Anyway, it appears that hypocrisy is a strong trait in NY.
3) New York. Blech. Why does anyone care what New York thinks?
4) Twitter. Giving every narcissistic nobody an opportunity to prove that their 140-character opinion is worthless and embarrassing since 2006. Yay, Twitter. Blech.
But those are just MY worthless and embarrassing opinions.
How about “national media is crap”?
If they really want to control the circus, they should give one single press pass for minicamp to MKC. Let her be the “go to” voice for all things Manziel. That’ll put an end to the demand pretty darn quickly.
Yikes. I’d hate to see him cover the local team there.
any MKC write-up on a QB can be summed up thusly:

Each time she turns around, I hear in my head:
“Brady Quinn!”
“Colt McCoy!”
“Branon Weeden!”
“Johnny Manziel!”
Fortunately, the perpetual motion machine of Browns QBs allows the perpetual gif to maintain connection to reality.

Good luck with that.

How does this fit the narrative that the Browns feed all their news to the national media and leave the local guys fighting for Fozzy Whitaker feature stories?
BTW, nothing says “media circus” more than a New York Post press pass.
hopefully it’s so they can focus on WINNING

Hey, Bart- MAYBE THEY DRAFTED HIM TO PLAY FOOTBALL
Apparently the media jackals — or at least this lone jackal — still don’t understand what complete fools they made of themselves over Tebow. The guy had less value than a blocking sled, but the zombies of the Fourth Estate were fixated on him.
It was the same old moronic media Catch-22 mind warp: Tebow gets so much coverage because he gets so much coverage.

The Browns are gonna be roasted I don’t mind them putting the “national media” in their place but I think they picked a fight they can’t possibly win. If anything this will only escalate the circus. Not sure why this decision was really needed.

As gifs go, this is almost certainly “elite”
The Browns’ REAL message to those national media pukes that always want to hate on us:
i always feel like it’s just better not to say anything. Like how Paul Pierce asked to guard LeBron. It gets leaked to the media, and LeBron only goes off for 49 points.
I’ve actually got a good feeling about this one, though. Pettine and Farmer seem to really have a grip. And, remember, Pettine is held in very high regard in NYC, and he has plenty of experience with NYC/National Media.
The post, BTW, ran 2 Manziell stories a day for three days straight after the draft. It’s really just the beginning, boys.
**(BTW @mgbode and @Garry_Owen – i see a lot of new members around lately so i have a question: are they “commenter staff” or do they automatically get the promotion to “commenter senior staff?”)
Guys. GUYS! Please do not validate this guy, a guy who got into a “Twitter War” with Jason La Canfora, by commenting on his view of anything. We know we’re being baited, right?
They’re still on probation, but they have a chance to earn “Unpaid Intern Commenter Staff” status. Probably not what they’re looking for, but we’re getting a bit top heavy, and, well, the economy, yadda, yadda, yadda.
Hubbuch vs La Canfora I hope for mutual devastation!
Fozzy just got cut yesterday.
Read: “ESPN and Sal Pal are barred. Enter /ragemode, Bristol.”
best MKC gif. I request she make it her Twitter avatar.
you forgot Jason Campbell!
That GIF does actually look eerily like MKC now that you mention it.
Jake Delhomme!
Throwalicious!
