April 29, 2014Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert released a statement Monday night regarding the alleged comments from Clippers owner Donald Sterling.
“It is shocking that anyone could hold the kind of offensive and feeble minded views that are being attributed allegedly to the Clippers owner, Donald Sterling. The diverse staff members of the Cleveland Cavaliers franchise are unified in encouraging Commissioner Silver and the NBA to respond with swift and appropriate action consistent with a strong zero tolerance approach to this type of reprehensible behavior.”
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver has scheduled a press conference for Tuesday to address the NBA’s investigation into Sterling’s comments. Kevin Johnson will also hold a Tuesday press conference to speak on behalf of the NBA Player’s Association.
The Clippers and Warriors are scheduled to play game five of their first round series Tuesday night in Los Angeles. The series is tied at two games apiece.

that’s a nice statement. glad to root for a team with an owner who isn’t afraid to say something like this. Regardless of how he feels personally about Sterling, it’s refreshing to hear someone speak their mind and take a stand on such a sensitive issue.
Well done, Dan Gilbert.
Swift action = hire Griffin now, putz.
They need to figure a way to take that franchise away from. As cuban said yesterday it is a slippery slope but they really need to find away. Just reading old articles about this guy he is a scum bag who it seems that stern protected. Maybe they can force this sale to Seattle so a little something good can come outta this mess
This is a good and appropriate statement. But as usual, Mark Cuban added a fearless perspective that everyone needs to add to the mix: these particular comments were made from Sterling’s own home in a conversation that he thought was private. It’s a scary thought that significant property rights can be confiscated for that,
I would respond to Cuban: when you purchased your franchise you signed onto the NBA’s constitution and its provisions. That’s a private contract and doesn’t necessarily provide you with U.S. constitutional protections, like free speech. Still, I get that Cuban is worried that the league may use its power to shut every owner up any time it wants to silence a dissenting voice.
Good job Dan, next step is fixing the mess here.
I was beginning to wonder where Lil’ Dan was hiding. Now lets talk Cavaliers.
