“Andrew Bynum tried to keep the the Cavs in this with some positive play in the post and at the elbow, with 19 points on 9-15 shooting, and 7 rebounds in 27 minutes. Give him a Santa hat. Tyler Zeller entered the game in the late third and played a solid 13 minutes, notching 6 points and 3 boards. Socks! That’s my new nickname for Tyler. It’s not the greatest present, but it could be worse. Socks ran the floor, hustled, played defense, and posted a +/- of zero which was better than anyone who played over 10 minutes. Yay mediocrity! Yay Socks!” [Smith/Cavs the Blog]

SO take that Chicago. Sigh. “The NBA announced Sunday that Bulls forward Taj Gibson has been issued a warning for flopping. Gibson’s flop occurred with a little more than three minutes remaining in the first quarter of Chicago’s 100-84 home win over Cleveland on Dec. 21. While running up the court in transition, Gibson was lightly bumped by Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving as he crossed the three-point line. Gibson responded by flailing both of his arms and spinning around, drawing a foul on Irving. Replays indicated that Gibson’s response was inconsistent with the light forearm contact delivered by Irving.” [Golliver/Point Forward]

A history of Indians closers. “Mike Jackson took over for part of 1997, and then full time in 1998, when he was one of the best closers in baseball. He also held the job in 1999, though he was not as dominating. He left via free agency at the end of that year.” [Lukehart/Let’s Go Tribe]

“The entire group which spurred that production – or lack thereof – returns intact next season. Much was said of Noah Spence, Adolphus Washington and Michael Bennett during spring practice and fall camp. The great unknown was true freshman defensive end Joey Bosa. That’s no longer a problem for Ohio State coaches.
Bosa was one of the most prolific members of the rebuilt line, recording 39 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks and a fumble recovery for a touchdown. All that earned him freshman All-American honors and continuous praise from head coach Urban Meyer.” [Rowland/Eleven Warriors]
