December 13, 2013MLB News: Indians add David Adams and Travis Banwart
December 13, 2013Seriously, who doesn’t love Ralphie?
Alright, today we give away a prize pack that includes a Jason Kipnis autographed baseball! Also included in that prize pack is a WFNY t-shirt. (Not the cheap knock-offs at the mall in Strongsville either.) Worth playing for? Of course it is.
The Rules:
Here’s how the giveaway works. For the next 12 weekdays we will give away a Cleveland themed prize. To enter, you need only to respond in the comment section in the appropriate manner. The winner each day will be randomly selected and notified by email. (Which means you better make sure that the email address you use to comment here is a legit one.) I cannot guarantee delivery by Christmas. We’ll do our best with the things we have in hand. Only one member of a household can enter each day, and only one winner per household during the length of this contest. Just spreading the love around.
Today’s Question:
Jason Kipnis has a great nickname- Dirtbag. What’s your favorite Cleveland athlete nickname of all time?
Comments must be posted by midnight Cleveland time in order to qualify for the drawing. Check back tomorrow at noon for the next contest. Remember, only one entry is allowed, but you may still comment to add to the discussion.

It has to be “Hot Rod” Williams, with “Ice Cube” McNeil coming in a close second. Hot Rod gets the nod because I can still hear Joe Tait yelling, “Hot Rod down low…WHAM with the right hand!”

What’s your favorite Cleveland athlete nickname of all time?
Since no one mentioned it yet, I’ll have to go with “Big Daddy” Carl Hairston. I believe I remember him returning an interception in preseason about 60 or 70 yards before finally lateralling to someone a little less…well, Big. The Human Rain Delay is a little before my time, but probably the best of them all.
The prizes have to be the items from the worst gifts countdown. Anything else, outside of a WFNY T-Shirt, will be considered a travesty.
As far as nicknames, can’t go wrong with “Super Joe” Charboneau.
Damn, FTW.

What’s your favorite Cleveland athlete nickname of all time?
“Rapid Robert,” closely followed by “The Heater From Van Meter.” Partly because they’re both associated with Bob Feller, one of my favorite athletes ever, but also because they have a kind of throwback quality that is just awesome. “Rapid Robert” just SOUNDS like it’s from an earlier era.
