December 2, 2013The Ohio State Buckeyes have won 24 consecutive games and play Michigan State on Saturday in the Big Ten title game. A win and the Buckeyes will likely be headed to their first BCS National Championship game under coach Urban Meyer.
On Monday the conference announced the coaches and media All-Big Ten teams and award winners.
Braxton Miller and Carlos Hyde were recognized as the top players at their positions (quarterback and running back, respectively) by the conference. Each were also named first team by both the coaches and media. Neither were unanimous selections.
Center Corey Linsley, linebacker Ryan Shazier and cornerback Bradley Roby were all named first team by both the coaches and media.
Tackle Jack Mewhort, guard Andrew Norwell and defensive end Noah Spence were all named to the first team by the media, but second team by the Big Ten coaches.
Defensive tackle Michael Bennett was named to the second team on both lists, and wide receiver Corey Brown was a second teamer according to the coaches.
Back-up quarterback and senior Kenny Guiton was the team’s sportsmanship honoree.
