As a local market representative and league manager of one of 16 teams invited to be a part of Crown Royal’s inaugural Fantasy Football League dubbed “First and Crown,” I will be using this spot every Sunday before the Browns kick off against their respective opponent to tell you who I’ll be watching during this Week’s contest.
This Week’s Spotlight: Jordan Cameron, TE
— Slim Charles Jr. (@kingF0X23) November 17, 2013
After three straight weeks, the spotlight heads back to the offensive side of the ball. The winds are swirling in Cincinnati and the Cleveland Browns have next to zero in terms of a run game. If the Bengals and Mother Nature opt to take away the deep threats in wide receivers Josh Gordon and Greg Little, it will be up to the play-making Cameron to provide not only a release valve, but the ability to move the chains in a contest that will undoubtedly come down to field position.
Cameron caught just one pass for four yards in the team’s Week 9 win over the Baltimore Ravens. Cameron saw five targets but Jason Campbell missed high and wide on a couple of throws. The tight end was instrumental in the Browns keeping things interesting against the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs (four receptions, 81 yards), so if the Browns plan on sweeping the Bengals this season, these two players will have to ensure that they’re on the same page.
Through nine games, the 25-year old has exactly 50 catches for exactly 600 yards to go with six touchdowns. A 1,000-yard, 10-touchdown season is undoubtedly within reach. But if the team’s most-improved player is going to see that happen, he’ll have to show that Week 9 was the anomaly and that the first half of his season was a taste of what’s to come.
