Game 8: Cavaliers vs Bulls Behind The Box Score
November 11, 2013While We’re Waiting… the go for two argument blazes
November 12, 2013After the Cleveland Browns traded Trent Richardson following Game 2 of the season, they added Willis McGahee to take his place. The results of that pickup have been less than overwhelming, as McGahee has rushed for 262 yards on 100 carries with 1 TD. With the aging McGahee being the only thing standing between the Browns being without a featured back, it would make sense that the team would be keeping an eye on the free agent pool for potential help. Especially as the Browns suddenly find themselves in contention once more.
According to Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun, the Browns are doing just that:
Browns worked out running backs Kahlil Bell, Armond Smith and Armando Allen`

None of the 3 RBs were signed, but obviously the Browns are continuing to keep their options open at RB.
The Browns travel to Cincinnati this Sunday to face the Bengals with a chance to draw even in the loss column.

That’s cool, but Rainey did look pretty good last night.
Not sure what Obi needs to do to get a start. He’s the only RB we have that has averaged over 4 yards a carry for 3 seasons. They should be looking for a fullback.
Is that Armond Smith as in the guy we had in camp a few years ago and broke that huge run?
It’s cute that the Browns are looking at running backs, but unless the three they are bringing in are named Jim Brown, Leroy Kelly and Kevin Mack, it’s not going to make much of a difference.
Anyone available this late in the season is not already on an NFL roster for a reason.
If they can actually make a cut or hit a hole with any speed they are better than McGahee, the guy just falls forward for 3 or less everytime he touches the ball.
Contention? Seriously? You’re gonna need a hug in a week or two…
Who are the Browns playing in the next week or two that has you doubting that they can win?
As the weather turns and becomes an extra defender they will sure need someone to hit the hole a little quicker and mush for 3 messy yards. McGahee is obviously done but I expect a better game from him after the off-week. He had no training camp, had to play himself into shape and now’s had a week rest. He does pass protect pretty darn well and sure hope the new guy they sign has some concept of basic blitz pick-ups. Because if he doesn’t Campbell might get killed and we may be introduced yet again to our little red-headed friend.
I agree. Obi’s not going to the pro bowl anytime soon, but he has proven that he is capable at RB. I would love to see him get 10-15 touches.
Yeah, we signed him as a UFA in 2011.
I don’t think we need to worry about probowl RB. I would take average or slighly above average at this point.
Brandon McDonald.
From Fozzy’s wikipedia page…
Foswhitt “Fozzy” Whittaker (born February 2, 1989)[1] is an American football running back who plays for the Cleveland Browns of the National Football League. He was the halfback for the Texas Longhorns during the 2011 season.[2] He is from Pearland, Texas. He was claimed off of waivers by the Browns and drastically turned their season around. He is now considered the front-runner in this years MVP race.
No really! Go see…

LOL
Uh… we control our destiny at this point. After ten weeks of football. I think that is by definition “contention”.
Let’s be honest. Slightly BELOW average would be a nice pickup at this point.
I like him even more now.
I’m not calling the Browns a lock for the playoffs by any means, but looking ahead at the schedule, it’s doable.
@Cincy
Pittsburgh
Jacksonville
@New England
Chicago
@New York Jets
@Pittsburgh
If anything, the toughest part of the schedule is the fact that they finish with two road games (that and the Pats).
Also, if Campbell gets hurt, and we see Weeden again…it’s over.
3? I would kill for 3 yards from him!
hahahahahahaaha
The Browns need to sign RB Cierre Wood, formerly of the Texans, who is now on the Patriots practice squad. He had a strong preseason and was previously considered a strong candidate to compete with Ben Tate before a bone-headed violation of team rules. Character issues aside, he has talent and worth taking a flyer on…
Awsome. Gotta love Wiki
“Fozzy Whittaker once bit the head off a snake at his concert. There were 150,000 fans in attendance. Fozzy Whittaker once wrestled an 800 pound gorilla. Fozzy was 7 at the time…”
We don’t need to pick up a toke buddy for Gordon.
Also on his wikipedia page…
Fozzy drew rave reviews from scouts when he was clocked at a time of 3.5 seconds in the 40 yard dash and a vertical leap of 176 inches. He is widely considered as the best running back prospect since Walter Payton. [3]
Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, apparently…
I liked him….too bad we didn’t sign him yesterday.
You can’t seriously believe that the Browns have no chance of beating out teams like the Jets, Chargers, Titans, Dolphins, and Ravens for the second wild card?
“The Browns travel to Cincinnati this Sunday to face the Bengals WITH A CHANCE TO DRAW EVEN IN THE LOSS COLUMN.”
Only on a Cleveland Sports blog…
Where is Beanie Wells?
On somebody’s IR probably.
Update Sunday 11/17/2013, 4:52 PM: I’m here if you need that hug…
Unless its’ the Jaguars it doesn’t really mater…
That’s the problem my friend…
I can’t believe you do! I am firmly waitng for next year…
